I first saw/heard The Almighty around 1993 on some live festival video, can't remember specifically which... convinced myself I had to go out and find their "Powertrippin" CD straight away. Couldn't find it anywhere for almost 20 years. JB HI Fi had heaps of copies of the following album "Crank"...
It's a weird month. Light on footy which is SEN's core(and mine too), but the key on-air personnel go on yet another holiday so we get the fill ins such as Sam Edmund, Adam White and Julian de Stoop...They're always hovering in the background but are all FAR better than the big name spuds...
BUFFALO - Aussie, early 70s. Pete Wells on bass, was later the legendary slide guitarist from Rose Tattoo.
I hear lots of bits of other bands in this on certain songs (not all shown here), early70s UFO, mids 70s Ted Nugent, early 90s Kyuss.
Metallica have just announced an Australian tour, with Suicidal Tendencies as one of the openers. Somebody on a Facebook group said "i'm not paying $300 to go see Suicidals and then walk out". :D
No, I don't mate. Found the clip on youtube a few years ago. Always been a big fan of Bryan's voice, and the way the video showcases all the players is just brilliant, makes it one of my favourite clips ever.
I've followed West Ham in the EPL since the early 90s and saw a lot of similarities until we hit our garbage patch. Play attractive and fair footy, always competitive but never win anything. Inconsistent as ****, beat the good teams, lose to rubbish teams. Have genuine guns but they're never...
Is anyone else happy we've heard the end of the wine bloke for the year? **** me, other than wine snobbery being a big wankfest, I don't need someone to tell me what I should think tastes good. Automatic change to Magic 1278 for an ELO marathon for me.
Don't mind Kane to an extent. Does his research and gets his point across BUT strays into Ian Chappell territory where he picks up on something and then drones ON and ON and ON and ON and On and ON etc
For me this is one of the all time great music videos. A perfect short document of a band going about it and just doing what they do, every instrument clear and distinct - great sound mix, great players, great singer, great song.
I reckon he realised while he was saying "mouth" but still finished saying it, haha. Must be that wisdom and experience that nearly made me drive off the road.
It's been a while since I've been to Austria, but I'm sure there's a certain crossover that presents here - playing for the nursing homes at 3pm, and I'm sure that the bulk of this band is doing Slayer covers when it hits 11pm.
I reckon that's Adam Saliba from the Adelaide Crows on the accordion...
Dwayne's show was absolutely painful today. Josh Battle pick 8 compo news hits just as the show starts, and "if you call, you get on" for 2 hours of the same calls of people who don't understand that a players age + contract ($$$ + tenure) + a team's ladder position determine the compo. It...
Don't reckon it would be the same bloke if you can pick further holes in it. The weekdoy froywoy goy probably only has that one dostongwoshong foitore.
There is a bloke who sometimes does the traffic updates (appears on various stations in Melbourne) that sounds like he's swallowed his tongue. Talks about dolloys on the froywoy, and to take the hoywoy instead. Would that be the same bloke?
Have sent a few texts, occasionally read out, have never called. I marvel at the people that call Dwayne with a question and "I just wanted to get your thoughts on this, Dwayne". If I had a footy issue that was burning away inside my brain and keeping me awake at night Dwayne Russell would not...
Some "passionate" people calling in to Sam Edmund this morning. You can just about hear them unravelling as they tee off about what's wrong with their club (generally Carlton & Essendon*)
Don't know why, but left the car radio on SEN on the way home. Maher & Jenkins doing the quiz was completely unlistenable. If it wasn't bad enough that the hosts talk over each other (Gaze is worse though), the constant sound effects and sound bites make it even worse and must be really...
10.30 news update : "Tom Arnold is relishing playing in Melbourne's backline".
I suppose being married to Roseanne Barr will prepare a bloke for anything.
Did I hear right on the 8.30 news update this morning?
Newsreader : "Brisbane's Oscar McInerney makes club history when he plays his 140th game this round", with no elaboration whatsoever. Errr....what?
And to think that when he first started out in the media, Jerker was often touted as (admittedly, by others on SEN) being a bit more intelligent than most ex-footballers, and offering opinions with an intellectual slant and and a bit more life-balance.
He's a monotonous gumby who's become more a...
Not sure if I've posted this before. Sweet (or what's left of them) are touring later this year. Forget the glam/bubblegum stuff, they were pretty heavy for their day.
Where are the club leaders sticking up for Clarko? Someone needs to stick their head above the parapet and tell those in the media with a clear vendetta to go and get ****ed. Would an Eddie McGuire or Jeff Kennett (ironic, I know) take this crap from Caro etc? Stare these pricks down and put...
Have noticed the last few Friday mornings (usually Sam Edmund, today it was Adam White) 95% of what the callers want to talk about is the previous night's umpiring.
It's a repetitive topic to the point of being unlistenable, which is a shame given how well Sam (and Adam today) generally host...
I looked at the clock (in the work van) when Chris started, and wondered how long his question(s) would be. Ended up being about 2 and 1/2 minutes without breaking stride. I reckon Pipe had time to go for a coffee and a crap before old mate finished.
