Which is why the game time of Prestia and Hopper should be managed.
TT will, and should play every game he's fit, you manage the minutes of Prestia and Hopper, and Ross will be the 3rd midfielder in rotation.
Then you would have McAuliffe play more minutes, and then one of the draftees as the...
Just gonna put some perspective on people bagging Hopper for his disposal (especially that last game where he showed to be one of, if not the best clearance and contest player on the ground):
I think it's pretty much agreed upon that Nick Daicos is one of the best users of the ball in footy...
Which is why I say I doubt we do bid on Lombard anyway.
Also, Lombard’s one wood is described as being “bursting out the front of contests with top-end speed and driving the ball deep into attack with a penetrating right boot“. Sounds like something we could use (but like I said quite clearly...
My guess is that 39 and 41 will be sent to Brisbane for their first round pick.
I do think it would be worth asking the question for a second higher end pick from GC though, and maybe sending the pick for Graham their way (assuming Graham decides to leave).
I just think it's extra tough for WCE because of all the noise around the club being focused on the lack of young, high grade talent coming through.
Obviously, very possible that more than one club gets involved to get the deal done, but that leaves you endless possibilities and combinations of...
WCE will definitely ask for a first round pick for Barrass, and I think they probably do. Without going into multiple trade scenarios, the one possible trade I can see that could make this work is Hawthorn's 12 goes to Sydney, 18 or 19 (let's say 18 for now) from Sydney goes to WCE, Barrass and...
I doubt they give us pick 3 for Baker unless they ask for one of the first rounders we get for Bolton from Freo (let's say pick 9 for now).
So another way to frame this is whether pick 3 for Baker + pick 9 is something either club would consider (add in steak knives where appropriate).
That would be 23 + pick 19 - 21 in 2025 (assuming no priority picks and compensation picks), which I wouldn't mind in all honesty.
But that leaves WCE with 3 + 59 in this season's draft (+ whatever they get for Barrass), and I don't see them going into the draft with those picks considering...
If the message is that Baker wants us to be fairly compensated, and he only wants to go to WCE, then I don't see him leaving.
WCE (in my opinion) aren't in a place where they can give up high end draft pick for mature-aged players just yet, and I doubt they will necessarily go down that route...
I would probably be fine if this was our complete trade window:
Baker stays.
Graham, Bolton, Rioli goes.
We end with picks:
1, 21, 29 from our own current hand
15/16 (Brisbane's pick - I have them at least final four at this current stage) as pick swap for 39, 41, 47, 57, 66, 73.
6 (Rioli...
As it currently stands, Gold Coast have 5516 points in the draft. Removing pick 6 gives them 3765 (more than pick 1 - 3000 points). If (for whatever reason) Gold Coast gives up pick 20 for Noble (cause I don't see them trading away pick 13 for him), they still have 2853 points, which I believe...
How often is he our most used midfielder at centre bounces? I think you'll find it rare to find too many games where he is our most used midfielder at centre bounces.
Considering he was the main clearance and contest player on the field today, I don't think his KE really matters.
It's the chicken and the egg here. Are we bad at clearances because the midfielders we have traded in can't do it, or are those supposed gun midfielders we have not getting clearances because the system and the personnel restrict their ability to do so?
Let's not forget that Hopper was as vital...
This would be the starting point for me with Hopper next season. I don't expect him to tag the likes of Naicos or Sheezel (too dynamic for Hopper even if he does slim down, I would look to a Campbell for those players), but looking at pure midfielders like Cripps, Libba, Oliver (at his best)...
It sounds like Twomey is going off the assumption that Rioli wants to leave and Richmond is following their history of being good to deal with. Like I said, what Twomey has already suggested would sound like overs to an opposition supporter, so not sure your metaphor is the most apt.
Isn't...
tbf to Twomey, he would come at this from a more neutral POV where he wouldn't necessarily understand the importance of someone lie Rioli to the club, the same way an opposition fan would look atthe trade that even Twomey has suggested and say that it's an overpayment.
Fundamentally, these...
It doesn't though? I mean, it's all semantics at the end of the day, but this isn't Shai saying "I want to be in WA next season", its Shai saying "if a WA club offers enough in a trade that satisfies the club, I'm happy to go. If they don't, I'm happy to stay".
Bolton - top 8 + pick 16 (or the equivalent)
Rioli - top 5 + top 14 (probably the most overs in AFL trade history, but that is how much I think Rioli means to the club).
Bolton one I would be open to negotiate a lower trade, I would be digging my heels in with the Rioli one.
At his very best, Hopper is our best contest and clearance mid on the list. Whether he ever gets back to that will remain to be seen.
There are 2 factors that make me still defend him, one factor he controls, one factor that he can't.
First of all, he needs to get his body right. That is on...
Ok, so say we do look at Joe Pike for 6 months and realise he might be half decent. National draft comes around, and then we realise we may be able to get the 200cm Whitlock kid. Do we give up on the Whitlock kid cause of Pike because of the 6 months of development but (possibly) not as high of...
But there's a difference between having 6 open list spots, and 5 open list spots + 1 cat B list spot in terms of the number of draft picks you take into the draft, last time I checked.
