    QAFL 2024 season

I went out and had a look at that Colts game. Morningside Seniors must be going very well (and obviously they are) if Ben Lillico not getting a run in the 1s! Kid is a genuine star. Another lad called Frasier Lay goes pretty well too, as does Oscar Tanks. Seton also looks like a talent...

he is 2025 draft, I think maybe a late birthdate though. I'd estimate that he had 40+ disposals and kicked 3-4 goals with at least 10 clearances. He was dominant. Morningside clearly did a better job of managing their young talent towards finals, I went along expecting to see Gilder, Gillet...

For those playing along at home. I went and watched this game and Morningside slaughtered the Magpies. Even first 10 minutes and then it was a bloodbath. The young lad Troydan was completely unsighted. Magpies didn't really have aby good players. Highly rated Harrison up forward was a non...

    Academy 2024 Northern Academies (Boys)

    1. Poor Allies campaign, which is the #1 way of getting exposure for young QLDers 2. Beyond Allies, lazy recruiters just don't pay any attention to QLD kids - which is unfortunate given the political nature of Academy selection processes and thus Allies after that by extension

If you were there live, Annable was a class above in a pretty high standard senior mens state league game. The stream wouldn't do it justice. His kicking has really improved.

    Academy 2024 Northern Academies (Boys)

Ty Gallop - played 2 x Allies games and kicked 8 on the weekend in the QAFL against the top ranked side littered with AFL/VFL talent. Tom Gillet - only played 1 x Allies game, but stuck behind the best ruckman in the draft. Think he probably gets picked up, not really a smoky. Ryan Gilder -...

    QAFL 2024 season

Palm Beach were given a favour. Look at the Colts fixture. You either don't touch it at all, or you favour the higher ranking teams. You can't pick and choose who to make exceptions for, and if you do, it should be the higher ranking team in the higher ranking grade.

    QAFL 2024 season

I think if you look at the fixture across the 3 grades this week, Grange have been screwed. Their Reserves have finished 3rd, and play Surfers at Viccy Point - which strictly speaking is how it should be. However, AFLQ have used their 'discretion' to do Palm Beach a favour and have their Colts...

    QAFL 2024 season

As a keen observer of the competiition, the coverage it gets is genuinely laughable. Whoever writes the match reviews and previews clearly uses Chat GPT, doesn't watch the games or even have a basic understanding of footy. The amount of errors that I pickup, when I'm not even involved is...

    QAFL 2024 season

just to be clear - when I said "took up his duties" I was being tongue in cheek and saying they took up his duties of abusing umpires. I don't believe any other Gorilla assistant coaches have been suspended, looking at their lineup in that space I'd be surprised if any did, as they are all...

    QAFL 2024 season

I wasn't quite right. Moloney was suspended the week before and wasn't allowed to attend the game vs Redland. With him suspended, their captain and another player took up his duties and were suspended for the Aspley game. All of the suspensions allegedly for umpire abuse both during and after...

Annable was outstanding. Bridge was very poor in his disposal by foot, but directed traffic well. Seen enough of him to say it was just an off day. Geesu is a high impact, low possession player. He is exciting. Isaac Waller looked handy in the ruck, but both he and Gillet had no marking...

Pretty sure he was suspended along with another player, and their coach, for umpire abuse.

Collins is very talented. He knows he's allowed to kick to the Lions boys as well though right?

Preview 2025 AFL Draft General Discussion

Well if you watch the u17 QLD vs Vic Metro game - Annable and Uwland just an absolute class above. Pretty even performance outside those 2, but they are very special players. Top 10 bids incoming I would think

Stolz is quality, but don't think he is part of academy. Bridge I believe is the younger brother of 2025 first round prospect Harrison Bridge, so thats good signs

Under Age U16s - 2027 AFL Draft General Discussion

Rafter is #5, front row in the middle. Ellen is #13 in the back row. I assume #3 was Wallace, but I don't even have his name in my notepad from watching all the games. Ellen has something about him, he is a bit of a showman. But he has zero footy IQ and skill level isn't great. I can sort...

I actually played footy with Brayden Shaw (Tony's son) and Heath (Ray's son) coming through the TAC Cup. Brayden was the most sure thing you could imagine coming through the draft and F/S. Heath was a marginal talent at best (I was a better player than him as a 17/18 year old). Brayden went...

Under Age U16s - 2027 AFL Draft General Discussion

I watched every game of the carnival, Boothey was a standout for a team that struggled - though you would expect a team that is essentially the QLD B Team to struggle. Two or 3 in that team did look very good though, have to wonder how they weren't in the 'A Team'. Boothey I reckon would be...

I think they should take him, but I don't think they will. That basically controlled Allues team this year with Hahn as coach, and left him out of squad of 30 to start with. I belive quite a few southern clubs are keen on him though, it's be shocked if he's not picked up, but I stunt...

Depends what the draft strategy is. Gilder is the best of the lot outside Ashcroft and Marshall from the Lions cohort. He is ready made, athletically gifted, really competitive and hasn't scratched surface of his potential. Gillet ang Gallop would be project talls, though Gallop is a bit...

Interesting Gillet in there from Lions, but not Gilder. Gilder played 4 x Allies games and was very good in 3 of them. Gillet played 1 and wasn't great, but had a good VFL game on the weekend. no McFayden or Gallop either, not even for their local combines.

The main issue is that they tell them all they are a chance, when really only a handful are a chance. Some have self awareness (or their parents do) and stay in the program for what it is, a good rep program where they get to play at a high level and have memorable experiences. Some also have...

I'm not questioning the selection of Richardson, I think there should be more of him playing and some younger ones too Yep, both young QLDers who were persisted with Arnold is Suns Academy though. Reville you'd probably have to thank his QAFL club more than the VFL program. Marshall has...

You ever want to see a contrast of how the Lions and Suns prioritise player development through their academies, that game on the weekend is perfect. The Lions played 19 year old Billy Richardson and 18 year old Tom Gillet. Both fresh off Allies campaigns and playing Senior QAFL footy for the...
