For those affiliated with Friday night footy. What was the rego this season for those clubs? Imagine training once a week and having to pay Saturday level rego.
Tell me you’re a Mayne person without telling me you’re a Mayne person 🤣. Where were you guys in 2017,2018,2019,2021,2022 and 2023?
Don’t get me wrong. Coorparoo will be haunted by the 2023 GF. However Mayne were clearly the better team this season in 2024 and were a fantastic team.
But you’ve...
Are there other alternatives to train at for Plan B. Calamvale would be the closest. How’s the relationship with them, as you guys now have merged some junior teams with them.
In what context? Mayne have shown they are unable to consistently show dominance in the comp with their seniors since their 3-peat a decade ago. When the comp was split div 1 north and south.
However they were very impressive this year. With Coorparoo now gone, they might be able to be the...
Understand that. And I agree of course with the fact these clubs have plans (well, all clubs do) and don’t want to be pushed.
But Alex Hills have played in 3 consecutive grand finals. Won 1, and their first lost was against an undefeated hinterland team that is now in div 1. And the second...
Coorparoo’s first outside player signings are both former Mt Gravatt players in Jonah Licht (former captain) and Jayden Crawley. Am aware however Jonah was a Coops junior.
I think a few too many clubs getting comfortable in their little north or south comp. Not sure why suddenly all teams in div 2 that are successful want to continue to stay in div 2 now. I think a few clubs need to harden up and move up when it is time.
Massive talks on any club who’s senior...
Shane Brew won the BnF from Maroochydore for div 3 north as you say.
Is he a former div 1 or QAFL Maroochydore player that’s come down to finish playing. Or is he a genuine Friday night player?
I understand to some it’s just ‘social’ footy. But it’s a bit unfair to bring along the Friday night comps BnF’s to the community awards night and not even bother to post them on SEQ Footy or AFLQ fb pages.
Only found out who won div 3 and 4 south due to the winners own clubs posting it. Who...
Agree SMY,
But now that more clubs will most likely have two teams in the Friday space next year. What are the requirements?
Do they have a restricted list like they do in the juniors with two teams? With the original team being the ‘seniors’ and allocate 15 or so blokes that can’t ‘drop’ or...
There isn’t or more so it shouldn’t be. Too many people, AFLQ included seem to think Friday night footy is kick and giggles. I can assure you. The top two teams in div 3 north and south this year would be competitive in div 2 north. Obviously they wouldn’t beat to the top 4 or so.
On that...
Not sure we can get mad at all these clubs where their Friday night teams are their ‘seniors’ for wanting a second team.
I think we forget Coorparoo. A team which is going QAFL next year, with a very strong seniors and ressies in div 1 and an already strong Friday night team was granted a...
Well exactly. You’d be lucky to get even 10 blokes for a lot of Friday night teams pre Xmas.
I was more thinking out loud what the expectations AFLQ have for those clubs in terms of numbers and timeline.
Well the initial issue was the fact Coorparoo got a second Friday night team. And let’s be honest, there was no need for them to have a second team. They are already a Saturday playing team.
But I can’t see AFLQ stopping them from having a second team after only one year. But the only team...
So I’ve seen so far that Moorooka, Pacific Pines and Ipswich Eagles are advertising for players to all get a second side each for next year. AFLQ allowing Coorparoo that second team really opened the floodgates.
Two points. 1. Won’t help the lower level div 2 teams in getting numbers for their...
Southport go down to Werribee in the VFL GF played at Ikon Park by a single goal. Also interesting how both teams are standalone teams and both have played in either one of the last couple of GFs. Gold Coast also won it last year or the year before too. All QLD teams made finals in the VFL...
Northern Football League Div 1 Seniors GF live stream if anyone interested. Heidelberg V Montmorency.

Fair enough. But that still adds to my point. Just missed out of finals in their first year and had 5 wins tied with 2 other teams (one of them being Hinterland who made finals) and their ressies made finals last year as well.
It would be great for teams like Sandgate to return to higher...
So AT LEAST one team has to come up from div 2 north. A few people on here complaining about the negatives of going up for those teams that did not perform well in their first year. Beenleigh made the GF in 2022, Hinterland knocked out the reigning premiers Springwood in an elimination final...
Just seen Morningside and Moreton Bay have been provided QAFLW provisional licences for 2025.
Great for both clubs and those women’s programs. Might eventually open that spot up for Moreton Bay men’s team at some point to make the jump to QAFL (would be years away). Especially as there has...
GC, Brisbane and SC? Both the coast comps would be ok numbers but jeez you’d have to split the Brisbane region into north and south due to numbers or something like that.
