I can understand your point of view but with Richards, Grundy, Talia, X, AA, Melican, AJ to hopefully come back, Laidler, Rampe, Davis and Sam Reid to help out, how are we going to play anyone else in the backline?
We will know after next year if X, AA will make it or if AJ will make it back, in...
Think it's been a great drafting/trade period by the boys. Got some outside speed with decent legs on them, ruckmen, Kpd, gun inside mid, love the look of Dawson and papley both have a bit of x factor about them which makes any forward line unpredictable. Looking forward to watching their...
We need to get 3 more mature bodies IMO, at least on rookie list, types like Mason Shaw/Sam Grimly, Marlon Pickett/Shane Yarren and Chris Jansen/Jacob Ballard. Need to have a deeper squad to push further into September.
F: James Rose, Kurt Tippett, Gary Rohan
Hf: Isaac Heeney, Sam Reid, Lance Franklin
C: Dan Hannebery, Luke Parker, Kieren Jack
Hb: Dane Rampe, Michael Talia, Jarrod McVeigh
B: Nick Smith, Heath Grundy, Ted Richards
Foll: Callum Sinclair, Josh Kennedy, Tom Mitchell
Inter: Ben Mcglynn, Callum...
Good result IMO in the trade period from the club, ruckman, Kpd in, jettas wanted out and only birds flying the nest, extra couple hundred points in bank, think that's win for us :-)
What I don't get about all of this is we recruited two top 10 players from other clubs, admittedly buddy was probably near no 1 rather then no 10, get a trade ban for breaking no rules whatsoever, yet a team like hawthorn can
Get Burgoyne (top 10 @ port), Lake (top 10 @ bullies) mcevoy (top 10 @...
I know but every gun team around at the moment has at least one, bruest, lecras, Walters, ballentyne, betts etc, if you look through past grand final teams they all have a good small forward or two, even us, Morton, Davis, even back to crackers o,brien :-)
If wce are not playing nicely let's just ask our mate rossy at Freo to give us jack hannath and a second round pick that we can use on young rioli, then we get a ruck and a little forward gun :-)
Point taken :-) the message within the message is all players need an opportunity to show what they can do, if we get Sinclair, I think he is capable, from what I've seen of him, to take his IMO.
The guy who became one of the best rucks in the league couldn't get a game at Melbourne but Sinclair played all the season in a team that got to the grand final?? I know who was playing the better football at the same stage, I'm not talking about Martin now, but before he went to Brisbane, let's...
I think that is a great point you make Dan, when Stefan Martin was on the market a couple of years ago, I bet nobody wanted him at our club as a forward sometime ruck, I know I didn't, but look at him now that the position of no 1 ruck was forced on him by injuries! I think we would love to have...
Hey guys, thought it was about time I said something about myself as I have been a member on here since 2006 but rarely post!
I'm 41 born and bred in Hobart, got introduced to the swannies when my grandfather used to take me to local TFL games, starting in 1980, to watch a team called Clarence...
I reckon Rose will be a good player too, needs some meat on his bones but that will come in time
Heard from a very good source that Sydney is one of the club's speaking with Jeremy Howe, seems he thinks he is a better forward then back, an so do we apparently, and if we are, it might mean we...
Hey guys can anyone tell me the restrictions put on O'Keeffe and Thomas, from Collingwood, for next year? O'Keeffe would be worth a look for nothing, over 200cms, young, plays KPD, would be handy on our list.
Think we should have a sneaky look at Saad from the Saints, really need a specialist...
Rod "tilt" carter and "leaping" Leo were mighty fine fullbacks as well but I always loved "dunks" played against him down here in Tassie an sine he got drafted from here, will claim him as an honorary Tasmanian :-)
F: Gary Rohan, Kurt Tippett, Lewis Jetta
HF: Ryan Okeefe, Adam Goodes, Lance Franklin
C: Daniel Hannebery, Luke Parker, Keiron Jack
HB: Alex Johnson, Sam Reid, Nick Malceski
B: Nick Smith, Ted Richards, Heath Grundy
Foll: Mike Pyke, Josh Kennedy, Jarrad Mcveigh...
S Reid is alot like his brother Ben, hot and cold in the forward line, but Ben went back and became all Australian, I believe Sam has the potential to do the same and be a better forward for it. Jesse was never going to be in our best 22 when all were fit and mummy, well sometimes you gotta lose...
Isn't there a rule that you can't trade players in the first year of a new contract? If so young Sam is in the first year of his 5 year one and he wouldn't able to be traded. Regardless I don't believe he will be going anyway for a few years yet, young kpp who can play forward or back don't grow...
Andrew Ireland is the best in the buisness, Brisbane had Lynch on a 10yr deal and more stars then you can poke a stick at (Voss, akermanis, lappin, leppa and Co) during his tenure lets have a little faith he knows what he is doing!
I think the most exciting thing at the moment is the future, heres a side of 25 and under aged players and IMO i think it would go well against most teams now!
F : Mitch Morton, Tommy Walsh, Trent Dennis-Lane
HF : Gary Rohan, Sam Reid, Jesse White
C : Daniel Hannebery, Luke Parker, Lewis...
Walsh is a true KPP where LJ wasnt, i have seen walsh live and was impressed, someone else mentioned there was a little bit of hally in walsh and they were right, all he needs is to do is develop more of a "game sense" and i think he will be a gun! With our record of developing internationals...
Geez i would love to have t walsh at the swans, there are very big wraps on him as a key forward, still needs to develop a "feel" for the game but the swannies have proven with tadgh and pyke that we can develop that talent, also think farren ray would be good as a quick outside player to...
I think seaby is a better first ruck as well but the swans first ruck is Mummy, just like melbs is Jamar, geelongs is ottens etc.... Pyke isnt a first ruck but a good back up and i think seabs will thrive as a first ruck somewhere else
Hey does anyone know what the deal is with mitch morton at the tiges?? I like him as a mid size forward player with good hands overhead, wouldnt mind seeing a possible swap with mark seaby as they look at loggerheads with adelaide over maric. Seabs is a good ruckman but really needs to be the...
