Apologies for intruding, guys, but I can't help it! After all, you are my 2nd team after the Doggies.

I'm old enough to remember South Melbourne moving to Sydney. A tough time, and most clubs didn't care what happened to your team after that.

However, a couple of scum clubs spent years picking off Sydney players, bringing them back to Melbourne. No concern for "the game", just took who they wanted.

That saw the likes of Greg Williams, David Rhys-Jones, Barry Mitchell, Bernie Evans and Darren Gaspar (can't remember others, but there were a few more) being poached from Sydney. Swans' complaints were ignored, and it got to the point where they were uncompetitive, losing 26 games in a row in the early nineties.

Now, the wheel has turned. A lot of clubs don't like it, but to you guys I say - let this fall on deaf ears!

What goes around comes around!!!!

...and isn't it....DELICIOUS!!!

*Just lay off the Dogs players, okay? :p
And you say you are a Bulldogs supporter?!o_O

Hated rather than feared. First Tippett, now Franklin. It is the COLA that you will be hated for because supporters of other clubs see you as mis-using the allowance to snare highly paid players.

I welcome it, better than being irrelevant like your pathetic club.

Now piss off back to your board so you can talk about which young footballers career you're going to ruin with pick 2.

Hey Fellas, love your club's work! This has been worth it just to watch the meltdown from, well, pretty much everyone. Whoever gets the deals done up there is a genius!
Thanks for that. Our recruiters have imagination, even if the coaches don't.

Ross Lyon rested 12 players in the last H & A round. Freo nearly won a premiership out of that. By contrast, we took a full squad down to Simmonds Stadium and flogged them in a nothing game.

Still bitter.

A melbourne fan ill tick that off the list

Next is a dodo

Andrew Ireland is the best in the buisness, Brisbane had Lynch on a 10yr deal and more stars then you can poke a stick at (Voss, akermanis, lappin, leppa and Co) during his tenure lets have a little faith he knows what he is doing!

Of course I am. Born & bred!

However, the in terms of losing players to the "big" clubs, the same thing has happened to the Dogs over the years. Same with Melbourne. And the Saints. And Fitzroy. And Geelong.

I'm just glad a side that has been r*ped for decades (I'm talking about the sixties+) is able to take something back that upsets the "power" (lol) clubs.

Like I said, how the wheel turns! Would love for the Dogs to have a similar change in fortunes - wouldn't you love it for the Dees? You guys were also bent over by scum like Carlolton back in the day...

I can't see how this is Sydney's fault though? Every club would do the same. I get supporters from other clubs hating the AFL, thats perfectly understandable, but to hate the club is a bit misguided. I find it interesting that if GWS had of secured Franklin, no one would have said a thing, but because a winning team manages to get him, everyone kicks up a stink. For that reaosn, I tend to think 'feared' is perhaps more appropiate than 'hated'.

And for the record...I'm a bit unsure of the whole thing at this stage. I will just wait for the whole story to come out rather than base my opinions on tweets and rumours.

I'm loving the hurt. I remember those dark days, and I feel no angst at all.

You are getting close to overstepping the mark here. While you are probably not wrong in describing how we are likely to be perceived by other clubs' supporters as a result of this deal, remember which board you are on.

definitely dont want franklin for 9 years!! however i am a bit bemused by all the hate from opposition supporters. shouldn't they direct it to the AFL rather than to us? they are the ones making the rules, as long as we play by them what can people whinge about. no one gave a toss about COLA when we missed finals in 2009. i just hope the list management know what they're doing. seems like a huge risk.

The AFL is investigating

Just logged on and haven't bothered to read the whole thread but Ive had the radio on most of the day.
This post sounds so dramatic, the AFL are just following protocol by interviewing the club and player to make sure it doesn't breach any draft rules.

Saying that Im gobsmacked by a 9yr deal Id bloody hope it has some clauses!

Im not sure Buddy is even worth what we are offering Id rather see the money used in different ways securing our young guns etc, its not about just now its about the next 9yrs. I don't think he even made Sheahans top 50. He cant even mark above his head I don't see him as a stay at home FF in 9yrs time.

Also about this 9yr deal, not sure why everyone is taking that as gospel? ONE journo started it, Robbo, the biggest arrogant flog journo out there, well second to Caro. The club hasent even made a statement how would he know?

As for losing Mummy as part of the deal, Id rather give him the extra year he wanted but I was told he wanted to leave anyway so people shouldn't be crying about trading him for Buddy if that's whats going on.
I have faith in our list management team either way however as a pure footballer Im certain he is not worth the money, Im sitting on the fence and certainly not celebrating about it. I couldn't give two hoots that little Johnny rugby player converts to AFL because of Buddy. I couldn't give two hoots about TV rights and what money the AFL will make. I care about the team.

Just on this, what percentage do Sydney Swans contribute to all the clubs via TV revenue? Im sure its a fair whack and I doubt any club in the comp, players and all have a problem looking at their bank accounts because of it.

Im just about to have a browse on bigfooty, Im predicting a lot of crying and whining.

Sydney manAgement are silly. if we get buddy we will lose the cola or it will drop to 5%. they shoukd get godes to retire and use the noney to keep white and mumfird. now we will lose both. tippet will be forced to play the 2nd ruckman. we need some new run off half back. i think nex yr it may aell be swans vs freemantle in the gf with freo winning

You have been very tolerant. I would not have lasted half as long on the Carlton board. Sydney's administrators are the best in the business - I wish ours were half as good. It's no fun supporting a club that hires duds like Mark Neeld who seemed determined to drag the club back to year 0. I have actually always liked Sydney as a club. I wish my club was half as good. Cheers guys!

We'll just have to wait for the full details of the deal to come out... as for the hate, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, just jealousy from the Victorian clubs as a result of the success we are now enjoying.

I have utmost faith in our list management skills but this is testing that faith to the extreme. There must be more to this than meets the eye. Personally I don't want him and would prefer to spend the dollars on a KPD and new running half-back and/or a small forward.

I also can't see the AFL resisting the upcoming pressure from the other clubs to remove the COLA now.

Anyway, looking to next year (if this all plays out) what's the structure for next year? Buddy and Tippett as joint spearheads with Reid moved to Centre-Half back? Tippett playing as second Ruck (to Pyke) and then switching to the forwards with Buddy free to roam on the forward line? Mumford gone, along with White?
