I hope your players read these posts of your and realise why some people have sub standard views of the Gisborne Football Club. The success there is unquestionable, and the majority of the players you have are genuine good blokes, good footballers and modest at what they have achieved...
Good on KA for potting Kyneton after you guys have a medioca win against Castlemaine. From all reports your mob arent the side they once were and will probably up against it at the pointy end of the season. Especially against a class out fit like Eaglehawk. Was at the Kyneton game and yes...
Probably wrote that without thinking too much about who you would include. I would say Scerri, Else, Dryden, Chambers, McNaughton - thats probably about it without any recruits. Last year none of those players were used through the middle - I personally think it would at least be a start
Orton was really only playing ones as a run with player because of his high fitness level. The thing with these players that go to the Diggers, get a bomber uniform and claim they played VFL is that they get found out when they come back. I'm all for players striving to achieve at the highest...
Be great to see Funston and Messoudi go head to head. Both hard nuts, could be a bit of niggle there. Then theres the old Eve Vs Barham match up - believe its 1 all there so that will be interesting.
Big call Saunders playing on the ball 2nd week back - then again he is that good he...
I think for Kyneton 32 points is acceptable. Considering if you put these Kyneton and Golden Squares sides down on paper you wouldnt think Kyneton would have a chance of getting within 10 goals. I wouldnt think Golden Square would have been celebrating with a 32 point win.
Not sure about...
Very poor post champ. Obviously you weren't at the game. It was a 2-3 goal ball game all day. Kyneton were very honest and played a really accountable brand of footy. Went down by 5 I think but certainly no disgrace.
Great to hear North upset a finals contender - maybe Kynetons loss to...
Bear, you have just lowered your colours associating yourself with Greenman. His post regarding the Kyneton win was innaccurate and misleading. At no time did Kyneton celebrate the win like it was a premiership, the playing group know where they are at. It looked to be more of a relief to the...
Some great positive, sensible talk about the dramas at tiger land. Some great points were made amongst the chatter. I too agree that Foster was a success. What he lacked in coaching ability he made up for in the fact that he constantly talked the club up, had lots of positives to say about...
Its a good statement you make there. I think along with the club making an effort to look after these young blokes, the attitude needs to change amongst that age demographic. I reckon 5 years ago all any 17, 18, 19, 20 year old wanted to do was play senior footy, mix with the experienced...
Looks like you had a pretty good look at the game xterminator. Are there any positives, seriously, at all coming out of the tigers. Someone mentioned their top 5 players were they servicable or is the team struggling from top to bottom.
Anyone else out there got any ideas on what it would take...
[ Mate, your reference to the Clunes game is a disgrace. How can you expect a club to agree to a Sunday game, in Ballarat on one weeks notice. Why would North schedule a BFL game at Austar on the same day as a VFL game. If you look at it with a broader mind, if north ballarat cant get access...
Fair call Bears. The thing I guess that is dissapointing is that the Gisbornes, Kynetons, Castlemaines pride themselves on having die hard supporters that make an effort to get to the games - which they do - however if they're not vocal it makes you think the crowds could get like the ones you...
Interesting observation Bearsboy. I had a chance to come up and have a look at the game. There seemed like there was a few there but what caught my attention is that the Gisborne crowd did not applaud or beep a horn for any of the Gisborne goals. There was much more noise when a Kyneton goal...
Its sad to say but I think it could possibly happen. Not sure who all the teams are playing and obviously weather pending but there could be some big scores this weekend. Fair call on Ballarat, I tend to agree with your thoughts. The travel issue is a huge factor not just for Ballarat but any...
Interested to hear peoples thoughts on this. Does seem to be a worrying trend. Is there any connection between the location/demographic of towns and how there teams perform. Gisborne - close to melbourne/middle to upper class town - strong team. Marybourough - blue collar reasonably remote -...
Bears, this Tate is worth having a look at.
Saw his first 10 minutes at Kyneton and have never seen a bloke have more impact in 10 minutes of footy - Luke Saunders included.
Not to say he is better than Saunders but the 10 minutes he played before getting knocked out with a cheap shot was some...
Yeah Bears, I wouldn't mind having a squiz myself. Would have to say pretty obvious choice for No.1 in the comp. I'll put a few others up - Matty Fitzgerald from Gis, Kain Robbins, maybe even big Johnny Hardinge simply for his value to the way South perform. Then again looking back over these...
Bond played a typical Bond game and racked them up. Kyneton just kept coughing it iup to him, although I think most sides do when he is playing around CHB. The blokes a magnet. Kyneton would possibly have the match of their season this week against the Flat. If they can't account for them it...
Saw the Kyneton game on the weekend boys. It was an arm wrestle all day and I thoiught Kyneton would take it out after half time but Maryborough just didn't give up. Bond at 40 years of age or thereabouts continually picked of long bombs into the forward line of the Tigers. Kyneton have good...
In my opinion Gisborne must go into season early favourites, my reason is on depth alone. For the last five years they have fielded sides that are even across the board. Havent had a good look at the bendigo sides yet however did see a little of south, think they will shape the 5. Hopefully...
Keep your eye out for a bloke called Fungston from the tigers. Gritty in and under type, no fuss and doesnt take a backward step. From Warnambool way, not sure if he will grab the attention of umpires but may grab the attention of opposition coaches. Any other tiger players you boys see as...
Mate, I couldn't agree more. Blokes who perform well in finals are always remembered as good players - and so they should be. Those who don't have to live with the stigma of failing under pressure. Tough call but I don't think that will ever change. You often see blokes dominate when their...
Not crying BB. I too have thought at times they may be over rated but I have seen them perform well on occasions. Havent really ever seen them dominate a game. Would say Griffo would be a much bigger asset.
The way Gisborne have played over the last 5 years you would struggle to see any...
