I'm not sure why he needs Oliveira again? No excuses for Charles there, and he's not going to fair any better 3 years later.
Arman I agree with. Though experienced, Arman was only 22 or 23 at the time of that fight, and has definitely improved quite a lot.
Gaethje is probably the only current...
Yeah not good for Islam's legacy (as good a fight as I think it would be), but he also won't say no to anything, so if the UFC brass want it, that's what we'll see.
Besides Arman, there's really only the winners of Gaethje/Hooker and Gamrot/Fiziev who would be legit opponents for him and line up timeline wise. Of those, I feel only Gamrot would be a real challenge (prime Gaethje would have been), but that's not an appetising match-up at all.
Age has...
Not me!
Merab is the champion and is on one of the great runs. Moicano is a journeyman who's fallen into a fight against possibly the world's P4P fighter. A Moicano win would be an all-time upset.
Agreed, and that's why I give Umar the 1st. His first and last strikes of the round were by far the most impactful, and they had overall even striking numbers.
Awesome fight. Very odd that Hill didn't hunt for that body shot all Round 3, but that's what happens in the last round of a close fight - head-hunting.
Good news. Hopefully they can also find a new opponent for him relatively quickly, effectively doubling his earnings.
Love Moicano and he's been awesome the last couple of years, but don't expect this to last long.
Man, hell of a card.
Islam vs Tsarukyan - Not picking against Islam but Arman is a physical freak and has all the tools in the world at his disposal, so he could very well be the one to get it done.
Merab vs Nurmagomedov - Sandhagen is really the only top competition Umar has fought, but he...
She has that for sure, but she's also an elite grappler. Ribas was game, but was eventually overwhelmed by a superior grappler.
Nice little card to kick the year off today. Kopylov vs Curtis was top notch, while Almeida vs Alhassan was a crazy 4 and a bit minutes.
There will be a lot said about Colby after that, and rightfully so, but the guy has always been tough as hell with one of the great chins.
He's clearly washed and/or significantly ring-rusty, but Buckley was always a bad matchup for Colby. Elite TD defence, far superior striking and able to go...
Putting Pantoja above Mighty Mouse as the Flyweight GOAT is massive recency bias. He's potentially the best fighter in the world right now, but MM might be the best fighter ever.
He makes it very hard for his opponents, even more so than Edwards I think. I believe Shavkat is a top 5 fighter in the world right now, and though a clear win IMO, he struggled to work out the puzzle Garry presented.
He also seemed really cool post the Paul Craig loss. But I dunno, there are stories about his personal life from quite a way back that paint a picture of a guy who's always been a bit of a tool.
Sad to see Smith like that. Has been on the decline for a while now, but with added mental demons now, he needs to give it up.
Gracie is an embarrassment. Almost as much as that fight being on the main card over Sterling/Evloev.
