Pies and North are coming from opposite ends of the ladder.
We just need to blow the cobwebs out but they likely would want to play harder to build some confidence and give hope to supporters etc.
Remember when Carlton won the preseason cup and then finished last lol
Next year Jack would be depth at best and a distraction at worst. Happy to move him on.
Judging trade success is better when you look at the long term. Last year we paid overs for Bobby but now it looks like a steal.
Just listened to an interview with Scott Lucas on SEN who manages Ratugolea. Said they are confident blah blah blah but the clincher to me was he said the offer was fair and reasonable when compared to other trades, Tom Morris asked for an example of a trade where they received similar value and...
I remember when fly first started as couch he mentioned publically that he said to Grundy you can be an individual but you need to have a few fingers in the glove to be a team. And 12 months later he was all if the glove dont fit you must delist.
I reckon Ginnivan may have raised a few red...
I wouldn't be surprised if the club said the decision is up to him but he will need to fight for his position and wont be guaranteed anything. And in making that clear hoping he seeks a trade.
Wild horses for the stones best song for mine.
And I'm bloody rapt with Schultz. Just feel that our forward structure is more potent if we can get McStay or Cox to compete and bring it to ground.
I'm curious if anyone else felt this way but last year I felt our small forwards were often too...
If we don't focus on just winning the trade but do what's best for the club overall then we need to get the trade done.
It's bloody hard to go back to back but we will start the year as favourites and then it's up to the club to prove it. Adding in Schultz will improve our forward line. My...
Exactly!
And we can become the destination club. Success plus fly plus the smiles on the players faces walking up the race equals the ultimate culture.
And if they ask for a trade they will know that wrighty will be fair in making the trade unlike my-shit-dont-stink-mackie
We need Schultz this year not just because he may choose somewhere else next year but mainly because we are in the window and we should bring in whoever we can if it makes us better in 2024... #17
Imagine being a young gun player interstate and wanting to come home. Lots of clubs making offers and you have a tough decision to make. You may also want your existing club to be properly compensated as you're not a prick.
Then your manager says to you, Geelong will be difficult in getting a...
I think I heard this earlier on trade radio but what was said is that Ratugolea could simply not do a medical for any other club other than port. So would be a big gamble on say the Hawks to pick a player that you haven't done a medical on for the reason that the player does not want to play for you
I'm surprised that the media hasn't made a bigger deal about the Geelong and Mackie shitshow. Here's a club that has stayed towards the top for a decade by topping up their list annually with players wanting to go home or looking for success.
Now Ratugolea has asked to go to Port TWICE in two...
Melbourne will be more desperate than us due to the fact that they are paying a fortune for a vfl player. Adams on the other hand is professional enough to see our his contract at the pies.
It's on Sydney to get the deal done imo. We can work with them if it's close but they need to offer up...
One thing to consider is when we start to lose sidey, Pendles, Howe, Cox etc. then we would become a destination club for many free agents. All of a sudden we will have a top end list with some gaps and cap space and more importantly a winning culture. Geelong has shown how you can keep topping...
He is a club leader and heart and soul player but this move makes sense for all parties.
Adams has one year left on his contract but had to play a different role with Mitchell. And with the youngsters coming in at the end of his contract who is to say he may not be nudged out the door or told...
I think you could say that Maynard jumped to spoil and then Brayshaw took a couple of steps to essentially charge into Maynard when he wasn't in a position to protect himself.
But in all seriousness I'm expecting this to go to the tribunal and then likely suspended and we appeal and it lasts...
I've been listening to lots of so called expert analysts and the stats they are using are all recent stats where we have been just going through the motions waiting for finals.
They should be asking themselves if the recent stats are reflective of where we are right now or where we were when...
Gawn is a big threat with his contested marking and offering the Dee's defence with a quick down the line option to get the ball forward.
With the lack of quality forwards I wouldn't mind Darcy playing a looser role up the ground with the freedom to do what he does best in intercepting and...
Feeling strangely confident for tomorrow.
I'm a believer in that footy is mostly above the shoulders so I give the late form drop off a pass.
Finals suit us too I reckon. It pissed me off how during the season everyone plays their biggest games against us. If we are playing the Dogs at the G...
Is it just me or does anyone else think that maybe... Just maybe... We are playing funny buggers with Naicos?
The messaging is that he is very unlikely and up against it but nobody has ruled him out definitively.
It's probably unlikely in honesty but if we did think he was a decent chance to...
Great win today!
The best teams just bank wins even when not playing their best. We were definitely off for most of today with lots of fumbles, missed shots and just not able to transition the ball like we can. But we get the four points.
Our injury list is large but most will be back by the...
Haven't read the whole thread so not sure it's been mentioned but I watched some of the game and saw an interview at one of the breaks with Bolton who was asked about how Nick Daicos will manage the tag. He said they had plans for helping him get free but we won't reveal them in a practise...
Not concerned in the slightest about the practise match. Our game style is built on frantic pressure and this was a glorified training session with minimal defense. If anything losing can be a positive as a reminder that come round one we need to apply that pressure again if we want to win...
Agree to an extent but at Wangaratta he was the superstar so he would be played where he gives the team most value.
For us he will be a lower tiered player and he should be played where he gives the team most value. Especially if his skills seem to be consistent for that role.
