I tipped us too win by 22pts Tomorrow Night
I never tip us and the last time I did was against Hawthorn, so never again.

I tipped Melbourne by 15 points.
I might even put money on them @$1.96, to seal the deal for us.
The last winner I backed was probably Novak Djokovic in the first round of an AO @$1.04

Really went out on a limb that day.

Go pies :collingwood:

Kinda feel like whether Gawn has a really good game or not might determine the outcome
18 players on the park .. one player won't make a difference , a team that plays well together will come out on top, the pies just need to play how they did for most of the season and job done.

Anyone think we're going in too tall ?

On SM-S901E using BigFooty.com mobile app
Not particularly. Melbourne's backline is reliant on taking control through marking. Their intercept marking takes up a significant proportion of their entire marking total - I think if our talls are a threat this should effectively counter that.

Good Morning fellow Pies....Game day has begun.....l have annual leave days off today and tomorrow. I have given my son the day off school, and we both had restless sleeps as we're nervous as hell...!!!..So a big breakfast, gym, some gardening, get ready, then onto the G.....
Hope you all can get through the day ok....C'mon boys we got this...GO PIES!!!

I took the two days off as well. Annoyingly lying in bed now with a migraine I’m trying to shake before heading to the game.

Gawn has the odd good game. One of the most overrated players in the game IMO
Can't say I agree with this. He's still one of the premier tap ruckmen in the competition (although behind Witts & Darcy for me), is the best marking ruck in the competition, and gets a lot of the footy for a big.

I think rather than being overrated, people are just in denial over his obvious decline.

I've never felt so calm before a game

Gawn is a big threat with his contested marking and offering the Dee's defence with a quick down the line option to get the ball forward.

With the lack of quality forwards I wouldn't mind Darcy playing a looser role up the ground with the freedom to do what he does best in intercepting and rebound. Would also back Moore to bring the ball to ground when Gawn is the target over Cameron or Cox.

I took today and tomorrow off too. COME ON PIES, LETS GET THAT W!!!!!!!!!

Good to see others have taken the similar path to me, and taken a couple of days off. If we win, tomorrow will be a day of celebration, if it goes the other way, l can at least commiserate and be disappointed, sad etc. without having to front up to work!!!

I’ve said all year to just enjoy the ride, and see where we end up.
But geez I want this win tonight and book a spot in a home prelim!
It will be a long day at work, how the hell as you supposed to get anything done on a day like this?
Looking forward to getting home and settle in on the couch with a few beers and watch what the boys can do in a massive final.

Melbourne are a very even side, guys like Neal-Bullen and Chandler who are second stringers can have maximum impact if you let them.
If it is wet the ground ball gets is going to determine the result, this is something we have not been great at lately.
I am really nervous about this game, I just hope we don’t concede a start to them and be on the back foot from the get go.
If we can be within 2 goals by 3/4 time I reckon we win.

I'm tipping productivity will be flatlining.....

Last time we didn't beat Dees on QB/KB and ended up in Finals we did a real number in W1 of our finals series.

I'm not saying the loss this year equates to 2010 but there are some eerily similar patterns emerging. Especially the squeeze of quality players for young players and the tough decisions to cut those who are undeserved (Leon, Goldsack - who famously reappeared to take first goal of GF2, Presti, Lockyer, Medhurst).

The younger ins - including Thomas and Sidebum were insanely good especially during both GF. Bodes well for a Ginnivan and a McCreery type. Mitch is our 2023 Luke Ball. Cox could be a Jolly Cox (but hopefully with the dickhead tendencies kept in check), DeGoey our Swanny and Pendles our... Pendles.

I'm quite wound up for tonight's match but I always am. Pissed that I missed out on tix - I happily braved the 2019 QF even despite the outcome, the rain meant nothing to a rabid fan and we were on the wing in row B, ground level. Was AWESOME.

So being couch-bound tonight is a reality but maybe a blessing for my health. I'd love us to show the same ferocity we showed vs Port a few rounds back. Give us a tasty start to the finals series.

GO PIES

Hmmm I think you’re selling him a bit short, Gawn is the best ruck in the game.
However, he can struggle when teams take it up to him physically,
Lycett, is an average ruck but he bullied Gawn and big Max has shown on multiple occasions he doesn’t like it one bit.
We need to be aggressive with him, set the tone early, and be the ones putting doubt on their minds early.
The first 10 minutes of the game will be so so important as to who is on the front foot and who is on the back foot, we need to be the latter.

OK. Blood pressure medication taken: check. Solar panel connected to auxiliary battery: check. Tablet and phone plugged in and charging: check. Magpie scarf and beanie on camp chair: check. Refreshments ready:check. Nervous tension rising: check. Unsolicited flashbacks to heartbreaking finals losses relived: check. Time for a surf before returning to BF to enjoy the banter from fellow Pie Peoples before stage one of cakewalk commences😊👍.

Hi all. Hey i have 2 single junior tickets for tonight to give away. come back to me if anyone wants them

It's funny that you say that - I view guys like ANB as complete rubbish!

That's why we don't want Cameron or Cox to be ragdolled by Gawn.
However in round 13, Gawn took 6 marks and had 17 hitouts when he rucked and he didn't impact the scoreboard. Whilst Cameron took 8 marks and had the 13 hit outs and Coxy 4 marks and 12 hitouts. Coxy also went forward and kicked a goal.
Grundy that day had the 26 hitouts, took 4 marks and kicked 1 goal.
So Cameron and Cox were relatively competitive against Gawn and Grundy, but now Grundy isn't playing, we gather, so lets hope Cameron/Cox combo can get on top of Gawn.
Our midfield is where we have to be up and going tonight, as we don't want their mids to continually be getting the ball inside F50 from centre bounce clearance, because our backs will be under extreme pressure, and Melbourne are good at locking the ball inside F50, until they score.
