I’ve been keeping a silent eye on all of you looking for potential leadership material.
Ps Got a one year old grandson whose favourite tune is the Hawthorn theme song!!
Really not sure about this. Remember the reports in February that Kennett was trying to sideline Gowers on the selection committee and push for Nankivell to take over. Strong dose of reserving judgement I think.
Geelong supporter....no doubt an unbiased source. If memory serves me well Taylor Walker was rubbed out for two matches for a sling tackle on Harry Taylor recently. However part of the MRP rap sheet was that "high contact" was involved i.e. his head hit the ground. No high contact in this case...
Au contraire my fine feathered friend. I have been to every game this year - at least those in Melbourne but on medical and police advice I have been warned that sitting near Number 24 may have a deleterious effect on my health and safety!!
Don't whinge. I took the little lady and forked out a ton for two. See if you can get the club to shell out for free vouchers for the Waverley fish and chip shop to compensate!!
Bingo. We have a winner. The guy plays like an out of control racehorse but he has a dip. Looks to me like an out and out wingman. Let Young and him hammer the ball in long!!
Well Henry of course that's what they should do and what Closed Sessions and I would have done in the old days. But as you know footballers today are soft as butter.
Geez if you can't play footy without at least one broken bone you're not really trying.
Mind you where Renouf's concerned even...
Actually I thought the other two umps were pretty good. McLaren's always been a bozo wanting to insert himself into the game. The sooner they get rid of these showpony umpires the better.
Looked to me like he got a a foot full of stops, or whatever they wear these days, to the 'groinal' area. Given his previous history he's probably understandably 'sensitive'!!
Have you been yelling that hard for 57 years??:thumbsu::thumbsu:
Also a question. Has there been any umpire in that entire time that you haven't abused??:D
I can't wait for the BF post season analysis of our performance if we continue in the present vain.
So far I've picked up from a variety of posters as reasons for poor performance:-
Clarko
Newton
Barker
Kennett
Murphy
Taylor
injuries
pot bellies
lack of pre-season
lack of intensity
getting...
Mate you're kidding right? His performance (or someone in the box) in the GF last year was one of the greatest match day coaching performances in modern history!!
HbD. Serious question. Do you really know that Buddy thinks he's bigger than the team or is it just a guess.....or just venting?? Also why not try and talk Matthews back rather than Laidley if an ex-coach is the way to go?
Rusty. Can't wait to see you at training this week. Should make N24's 'discussion' with Barks the other week look like a love-in. I have no idea if the coaches as people are the problem but what we don't do worries me. We don't block and shepherd properly, we don't get smalls at the feet of...
Muston is being misused IMO. He should be played on a wing and told to attack all out. It is no use trying to use a player like this as a stop gap defender.
Maguire must have insulted the coach's wife or something. I've seen him play for Sandy three times this year and he's looked pretty reasonable every time.
Think it was Whitecross. Agree with an earlier poster. Whitecross was best of the Hawk players. Couple of errors but ball magnet even though he played maybe 75% of the game.
Yep, hopefully has a good run of games. It will be interesting at the end of the year either way, the coaches, players and others at the club think this guy is a freak so he may get extra leniency that others might not.
Geez, lighten up mate. Can't speak for anyone else in the thread but the interchange between Rusty and myself was a bit of light hearted banter between friends not some in depth political rave. And by the way, if you think politics and football don't overlap with each other you're in for a rude...
Thank you very much Hawks Heroes.:thumbsu::thumbsu: As one of tens of thousands of Public Transport workers who were needlessly retrenched by Ubergruppenfuehrer Jeffrey I have no time for him as a pollie.
Tory moderators can go and stuff themselves full of potato cakes.:p
Frankly I had no time for Jeff as a politician...at all. But he has nailed it more often than not as a club president. His coments re the football department were timely. And as for the umpire cards, fair dinkum, what's next? Blow up Demetriou and Anderson dolls??
