No idea, he might be. I don't tend to keep my ear to the ground with trade info/rumors, but saw his name posted a few pages back.
In other words, Peatling to Geelong confirmed.
Disappointed to see Foster gone. I only watched him play once, but thought he showed heaps of potential in that game. Guessing I may have simply caught one of his better performances.
Pretty interested to see Peatling's name floated though - I'd be all over that like a rash. He was super...
I'm surprised by the lack of enthusiasm for Foster - Saturday was the first time I've seen him play and for a 19 year old key forward I thought he showed plenty of promise. Some strong grabs, 2 (should have been 3) goals, including a huge roost from outside 50 near the boundary, and my...
Haha, I just saw the replay and Evans also started his chase from a kilometre away, it was only the last bounce that Holmes was taking the piss. Still, I'm sticking with my memory - it's how I'll tell it to my kids.
Both good rules imo. Has opened the game up and brought the runners into it.
More space with the 6-6-6 and its so easy to get the overlap handball from a mark/free kick to a runner with the stand rule. Holmes is made for the current game.
Haven't seen any of Hawthorn for years but it looks like I'm going to need to learn who their players are because I'm going to have to start hating them soon. Their hair has given me a head start.
Watching this game, the intensity around the contest is noticeably lower. The first half last night was manic from both sides, but this has looked more like a home and away game.
I still find Holmes "deceptively" fast. I'm thinking he must have an excellent running technique, because he never looks like he is busting a gut - like you said, he just cruises away and leaves everyone in his dust.
That run from the defensive goal square past one the Port players (I think F...
Hawkins hasn't taken 9+ marks in a game since r7 last year vs Essendon, when he kicked 8. The most he took this year is 6. Not to mention all the packs that Neale crashed to bring the ball to ground, which Hawkins is physically unable to do these days.
Hawkins has been my favourite player for...
Either Mannagh or Holmes BOG for me.
Funny one, because Stengle & Miers both (rightfully) pinched goals off Mannagh that were right on target. If Mannagh finished with 23 and 5 rather than 23 and 3 he'd probably unanimously be considered clear BOG.
Halfway through the year I was worried about Jack Henry's form, almost questioning his spot in the side. But his last few months - including last night - have been enormous. Been marking everything.
Kolo has been great as well. Not sure if it's correlation or causation, but they both seem to...
I don't disagree and I can see the logic. Just wonder if anyone has actually crunched the numbers to back it up.
Edit: Just re-read your post and can see you were making a slightly different point, which I agree with 100%.
Gotta say, I'm not as confident as others that the rumour is bullshit. Posted earlier today that I have a bad feeling either Stewart or Humphries will be a late out.
"Gave him every chance, but failed a last minute fitness check"
"These things aren't an exact science"
"I'm not a doctor, but we...
Yeah, I might have just had my Wells/Mackie goggles on with that one. I probably should have checked who the other teams picked before suggesting it wasn't actually a shallow draft :$
Edit: Just took a look and there are a few outside the dirty dozen that have shown plenty for first year...
I've often wondered - has any analysis ever been done around this? It seems to be routinely spoken of as a fact that a tough lead in to finals is a better preparation for finals than an easy one, but I wonder if that is even true? Particularly these days with the pre-finals bye.
I'm too lazy...
Yeah, I stopped listening to the "experts" opinions of upcoming draft pools ages ago. Rather listen to Wells who regularly states that they see opportunity to bring in talent late in any draft.
Last year's draft was roundly suggested to be shallow after the first dozen or so picks. Meanwhile...
Was thinking the same. Might get an extra free kick or two out of them, but might also switch them into beast mode (like B. Lara back in the day). Especially in front of their home crowd, it's a risky strategy.
Play well and get a handy lead, and they may well become petulant and give away...
Can only assume they've got Bews there to put the clamps on Rioli. I posted earlier in the thread that a) I'm not sure Rioli is a big enough threat to justify selecting a player just to contain him; and b) if he is that big a threat, I'm not sure Bews in his current form is good enough to...
He's also dynamite in one on one marking contests. So many times we will bomb it on his head out on the wing/F50 and he will either mark it or nudge his opponent under the ball and run on to it.
