To be honest, I wouldn't begrudge Dempsey the Rising Star. He's probably had a better year that Wardlaw overall. George will most likely end up being the far better player, but Dempsey has been a little more consistent and had a bigger impact over the course of the season. Others may disagree
Yeah...fair enough. I was probably still a bit flustered as to how we went from Larkey getting a free to Carlton have a shot for goal in the space of 20 seconds. Happy to stand corrected.
Watch it again. Agreed, it was a crap look from Larkey, but the ump in the background was signalling a free to him and he stopped (dunno why Larkey goes for marks anyway...he hasn't clunked one for weeks). I actually really enjoyed watching Carlton last night, it's just that the umpiring was...
If those 3 are called holding the ball every match, we are going to have 200 free kicks every single game. Being turned 360 degrees is way too long, but those calls last night were laughable....time allowed for disposal could be measured in microseconds with the tackled players hardly impeded...
When Larkey did get a free for holding, he stopped and inadvertantly tunnelled Weitering. Eleni didn't see the officiating ump signal the free to Larkey holding and she then somehow paid a 50 against Larkey, then another and suddenly Weitering was having a shot at goal. Commentators said...
Others will say that Lindsay Thomas has been our worst ever offender for this type of rubbish, but Andrew Swallow was far worse back in the day. Looked for a free in just about every single contest he ever went into....falling forward when tackled was his specialty. I've hated it in our players...
Yep, he's been a a good player, but there have been hundreds and hundreds of good players over the years that have been remembered for things such as their football skill, courage, leadership, standing up in games, etc. In 20 years time, supporters of the other 17 teams will remember Selwood for...
The day he smashed Peter Caven's face in and then tried to kill poor old Kenny and the rest of the old nuffies in the Swannies cheer squad by belting a torp at them from about 3 metres out.
i felt all of thise emotions on Thursday morning, jumping around the loungeroom in absolute delerium with my 15yo son. One of the best feelings i've had.
I love these type of hypotheticals. My big sliding doors moment for North is Carlton’s Luke O’Sullivan doing his knee on the extremely dodgy Waverley surface in the preseason comp in 1993. As a result, Norths scheduled game against the Crows get shifted to Football Park in Adelaide, where they...
This one has always given me the shits:
Groovy Kind of Love - Phil Collins
"When I'm feeling blue,
all I have to do
Is take a look at you,
then I'm not so blue"
following up in the second verse with this gem
"Anytime you want to
you can turn me onto
Anything you want to,
anytime at all"...
My father-in-law has about 24 magnificent tangelo trees surrounding their pool (for the Meditteranean look). He's too frail to pick them, so we head down to Melbourne on the weekend each year when the trees are absolutely full of fruit and we go completely nuts on them for a couple of days. We...
They're definitely pretty quick. The Bombers would probably be odds on favourite in a 4 x 100 relay...I'd love to see them go up against Geelong's 4 fastest.
