A question for those quoting the ABC commentary - where can one download a copy of the broadcast? I've checked out the highlights package on Gerard Whateley's website, but would love to hear the whole thing. It's the only broadcast I haven't heard as I was watching the game live on Ch10 and all...
As bad as Raf was, I reckon our own Stevie J would have given him a run for his money for worst-on-ground. Everything he touched that day turned to shyte.
I agree, it's not.
It's just that their idea of "valuable" is different from yours.
Actually the real conspiracy here is that Jim Bartel received no votes at all.
Did you maybe overlook this post, Chewy? It certainly goes some way to addressing the perceived discrepancy in voting.
As enosis7 suggests, perhaps the players simply asked themselves the obvious question: "Which bloke would I want on my team?". That a significant number of players from the...
Probably right on the money there yulong.
Perhaps this deserves a companion thread highlighting the Hawthorn "tactic" of illegally decking the player who has just disposed of the ball so that he can't become another link-up target. This was particularly prevalent in the Hawks v Carlton game...
Player: Joel Bowden
Reason: He's a top quality mammal, and a good old-fashioned footballer. No watching himself on the replays, no party-tricks, just does the basic footy stuff really well in a pretty flaky team. Also love the way he has bounced back this season as a match-winning forward after...
R11 Friday night
CATS vs ROOS at the Phonedome
Took a mate from England to this game as his first experience of AFL and he was blown away. Ripper game with high scores, tough contests and the very best of Gablett on display. Of course, it helped that we won.
Thanks for the reply.
Is Haileybury the only school to offer football scholarships, or does this system operate throughout the APS?
Also, is it possible for a youngster [or their parents] to "shop-around" for the best scholarship offers from different schools?
Excuse my ignorance, but do the schools competing in the APS offer scholarships to football players, similar to the USA college system?
If not, why not?
BUMP.
Saw bits and pieces of the Swans v Essedon on Sunday, and H looked to be doing okay. Took a couple of nice grabs on the lead and actually kicked straight 3 times. About the only decent thing the Bombres have going for them right now is Ryder at CHB, so it seems H had a quality opponent...
It's purely as a counterbalance to the obsession with Collingwood at Channel 9.
As any fool knows, there are only 2 teams in the AFL, and without this duopoly, the world would spin off its axis and civilization as we know it would collapse.
Have to agree with the wookie on this one. I hadn't really noticed Bruce's Essendon bias until that game. There was plenty to admire in the way the Dogs hit back in the last quarter to seal the game, but all Bruce could muster was a sad sigh of disappointment.
If Judd is such an environmentalist, how come he didn't choose Collingwood? I mean, the Pies have gone to great lengths to reduce their carbon-footprint by lobbying the AFL to virtually eliminate the team's need for fossil-fuel-burning interstate air-travel.
Don't think Egan is a local. Sure, he was playing for our VFL side, but he's originally from somewhere in Melbourne [Oak Park?].
Agree with the sentiments of the post, though.
