Two interesting counterpoints to make here, perhaps.
Firstly, the only thing that is resting on Carey is a hope that the Crows forward setup can improve slightly on the performance in 2002. That means the crows are hoping to get a little more out of carey then they got out of Fitzgerald &...
I've tried to stay right out of this thread because it was such nonsense, but this bit above really takes the cake.
From my perspective FF you have got this entirely the wrong way around. It is the Port supporters who cruise the boards looking to find an opening to have shots at the Crows...
Choppy:
Sure. Kangaroos will deal with Crows (being the club that Carey chose) in the Carey trade. That was the concept.
Gee, how wrong was that? ... NOT
Actually, not as close as some of your so-claimed "foolish" quotes!
Milne had a good year but IMO he has some things he must learn as yet.
Apparently when Saints played the Crows Milne's opponent was Andrew Crowell. Milne said to Crowell at the start of the match "who the f**k are you?".
That comment provided Crowell with great inspiration, and Crowell did...

Personally I'd say that there were three or four sides with at least as good a chance, if not better chance, than the Pies.
Hence the hedging (for a lower return) as originally suggested by Falchoon probably makes better sense than a longshot such as "All down on the Pies for the...
I wouldn't have said that Carey was match during last year. Not match-condition, but reasonable condition nevertheless, since undoubtedly it was always his intention to return to footy in 2003.
He seems to have presented well for pre-season training.
Just on the actual topic, one must consider that just about any player is a risk of getting injured, and some players to be a greater risk than others.
However, it would seem that a year off of playing has potential at least to have some recuperative effect, and that much of the speculation...
BrisGirl is spot on here.
If away finals were so hard to win for interstate teams, how could it be that West Coast have won seven such games, and Adeladie have won six out of ten. Thats six away finals wins, and four away finals losses, or 50% more wins than losses!
Whats hard about it...
Good win to Freo, well played.
Crows were deplorable :(
Oh well, I don't think anyway that it detracts from what I was trying to say before ... Crows list is OK. They just put in a very bad one, as even the best teams do from time to time.
There is one positive ... Crows have five...
Re: Re: ADELAIDE vs freo
This assesment of Crows is soooooooooooooooooo far off the mark I couldn't believe it when first I read it. I mean, here are Crows beating final four contenders in Hawks and Carlton in recent weeks by significant margins and yet we will "be killed" by Freo. FREO...
Regarding that "set-in-stone" game plan, you may be interested to hear that, according to both Nigel Smart on talking footy and Ben Hart on the radio, following their poor game against Sydney, the Crows coaching panel, including Ayres, along with the players, decided to modify the Crows gameplan...
Actually, slick and exciting are not necessarily the same thing.
Essendon are slick. Brisbane and/or Crows at the moment are perhaps the exciting teams.
My view, anyway. Whats yours?
The reason why Crows are doing a bit better lately than they have all year:
1. McLeod has got his foot-passes right.
2. Riccuito has got over his breathing problem, and is now a major factor in games again.
3. More even contributions from all around the ground - Stevens, Johnson...
Actually, Macca, you don't know me at all. You presume.
Her is what I think. It is just confidence. Crows players are right now playing with some confidence, unlike for most of the year. The thing that really killed the Roos was simply that Crows kicked straight. 25.12 is our highest score...
King was tough, and indeed the umpiring was ... hard to follow, shall we say? That goal was touched, no doubt about it!
North were unlucky on the umpiring decisions, no question.
And it was a "canter" just as you predicted on the Kangaroos board.
Shame for your lot about who was doing...
Guess I don't get to vote on this thread.
Before there was a team from SA in the national competition, I most assuredly did not even follow any team from Victoria, let alone support them.
The only thing here is, on Sunday afternoons channel seven used to televise into Adelaide some of the...
Macca, you are soooooo wrong
I was going to remain quiet, but you insist, so here it comes.
I haven't been having a go at you because of you prediction at all. There have been plenty of others who have had a go at Crows, even on this board, and posted doom and gloom predictions. Note that I...
This is a hard match to pick, there are a number of factors you could base an opinion on.
1. Formline. Its 9th versus 11th, each team coming of a good win. The higher ranked team had a win against a current top 8 side, the lower ranked team had a win against a side out of the 8.
2. Home...
Here is your quote, posted 17-03-2001 08:42 AM, on this board, in full context:
Macca19: "Dont tell me what my opinion should be...i think Marsh is a useless piece of ****, i think Jarman will still be at adelaide in 2004, i think you will come below 13th this year. That is MY opinion...just...
Hi guys-
For the record, I think you guys must all be a bit spooked or something, getting as upset as you did over "I think talk of an 8 goal win for North gives an impression of slight over-confidence".
Are you lot wusses, or what?
It means virtually the same thing - in the final...
Sorry Macca, you are wrong yet again. Do try a bit harder, one day you may get the hang of this reading caper.
You see, it was actually carb70 who made the prediction about Port being lucky to get 13 games, not I. Here it is:
carb70: "Being serious, how can you guys honestley believe you...
Sure Darky, that is all true, fair and above board, on your part.
Its just taht talking about it - its a bit like my thinking - if we beat North this week we can get into the eight - the thing is, we have to beat North FIRST. No point wondering about what will happen after that, I guess, and...
I especially like this bit from Macca "I will say that i strongly disagree about the crows getting 13 wins. 13 wins last year would of seen you finish 5th!!!! To think you can win 13 games with your squad is laughable."
I will save that one up. Wouldn't it be great if Crows did manage to win...
I guess that our language is very open to interpretation. But Shinboners, it sure as heck seems to me that my saying "you guys talking about what could happen if you get an eight goal win sounds a bit like over-confidence" is a trillion miles away from "all guns blazing".
"FUKWIT" and "snot"...
I feel it is hard to pick a winner for this game. I think that Crows have hit some pretty decent form in their last game ... but that is part of the problem. Crows run of really decent form currently stands at just that one game. I fear that the form could disappear just as quickly as it came...
Touchy, aren't we?
As well as over-confident.
Sure thing though - if you don't want to discuss the game I won't post any further on this board.
I'll just join in the far more intelligent discussion on this game with Shinboners on the Crows baord.
BTW - the one who jumps into any...
