    Toast Presidency and The Board

I want more transparency on the number of members who can actually vote and if Collingwood has the data to ensure they can vote. Over the past two years, I've helped many members get access to vote, as the club did not have email records for every membership. There were cases where one person...

    Toast Presidency and The Board

I've yet to receive a satisfactory response from the club or board on why this does not happen. I spoke with Jeff last night; he didn't have a problem with it if the nominees did not. (I don't know why the nominee's opinion matters in this case) To my question to Jeff last night, the number...

Thanks yes I don't think he understood the question maybe I could have worded it better. Most of the issues are tied to the archaic rules from the constitution and applying them in an old school manner (eg not understanding how the internet works). Member forums are great but my point was...

No problems. Elections should spark discussions. AFL clubs still see elections as destabilizing when they can be an opportunity to build engagement with members. I think the club is missing an opportunity to generate goodwill with members by not embracing the discussion.

The board doesn't have input into day-to-day matters, if they do they are interfering. Never said I would stand back. But too often people join football boards and put a scarf on and emotion takes over. I'm smart enough to defer to those employed and those on the board with expertise but it...

I agree. Boards are there to govern, not implement. My interactions with boards have been presenting business strategies for the board to dissect, review & challenge and eventually if it is a good business strategy, approve the direction. I'd expect GW to present a football strategy and other...

Attendance (aka show rate) is the obvious one that requires a shift in marketing focus to ensure members turn up and then investigate why they don't. Other member engagement metrics include - digital engagement (emails, social, etc), event attendance (functions, etc) I'd also like some customer...

Great discussion. Jumping in here with my point of view. All games at the MCG To be honest, Collingwood crowds do not justify having all games at the MCG. The ONLY way we will have leverage is for 50K+ to attend those lower drawing matches. The AFL is driven by money they won't leave $$$ on the...

good question (without knowledge of what actually happened at the board level, just media reports like most members) but I would expect the board to sign off on any significant project the CEO and the exec team present to the board. In football, many player contracts represent significant...

Good to hear you'll be voting. I'll provide one counter, as much as fans dislike Marvel Stadium there is no way anyone will be able to get us out of playing some games there. The sports business is built on multiple deals that are very hard to unwind. Jeff promised to play all games at MCG in...

The logo isn't my fave one I'm fond of the retro 80s one of my youth. With 100K members, you'll get varied answers for similar personal reasons. But as a board member, I don't expect to be asked to approve logos or graphics prepared by the Collingwood media department. Or any department...

Bumping this thread as I stand by all things I said last year, and I am happy to take on any more questions members may have. Especially from members who now are allowed to vote as the definition of an ordinary member was expanded to allow more members to vote. More detail on me here - Get to...

No, I reached out post-election and a few times during the season, but we didn't connect. We chatted a few times at club functions but nothing groundbreaking from those chats.

Board is there for governance purposes. What media reports and what actually happens sometimes can vary. I would expect all football decisions are debated and prepared to present by the football department much in the same way boards sign off on significant project initiatives in regular...

Thanks for the questions 76woodenspooners First of all 6 years is a long time as the past 3 years have shown a lot can happen. I would work with the board to solidify and strengthen our ties with all members. Growing overall membership numbers is excellent, but I would prefer to deepen our...

There was a lot of feedback given during and after the board election to open up the voting to more members. I think it is a great move, especially welcoming back AFL & MCC members as well as wider club members from Netball & AFLW. This a vital step to being a club that does welcome all...

I'm going to put my hand up again. Very pleased the conversation around voting rights was heard last year so more members can vote. What issues are important to you that you'd like raised with the board? For me, some include: term limits for the board expand voting rights further to ensure...

    Toast Presidency and The Board

Apparently, around 300 people eligible to vote didn't have an email so they got a snail mail but I did talk to a lot of members who got multiple votes to one email as someone had 5 tickets under one email. There is definitely data issues where people didn't know where the voting email was. If...

It's not just apathy for me but a missed opportunity to welcome members back into the fold. 1) More memberships or upgrades could have been sold with voting rights as a carrot to get involved with the club and 2) they could have made it easier explaining how people can vote and what they needed...

Just a quick note from me to say thanks for participating in the process, I enjoyed it even though I didn't get the result I wanted it was good that there was a vote (one of the reasons I put my hand up). I am hopeful the board pushes for the changes to the club constitution on term limits and...

Thanks, I did think not allowing members to upgrade memberships to be allowed to vote was a missed opportunity both for revenue and member engagement. I was pushing to promote that fact as you could interpret the election bylaws to allow it. Hopefully, you can vote in the next election when...

I think we are in furious agreement here. Many sports, not just Collingwood focussed on engaging fans not in the stadiums over the past 18 months because they were not allowed in the stadiums. The balance will be to not revert back to a "stadium only" focus but realise the opportunity to...

I've been at the Past Players function today at the club, it was great to catch up with some club greats but even better hearing from Craig McRae wanting to bring the whole club together. He showed a video that he played for the players on the first day back and even though I have no...

Speaking with people I know (inside and outside the club) there is an awareness and definite appetitive to repair that disconnect with members. COVID accelerated the issues (in my opinion) with staff shortages and difficult WFH logistics for club staff but we are well-positioned to rebound but...

All great ideas 76woodenspooners I think club is doing some of that with the new fan groups they are consulting, totally agree we will have some smart people who are members who would be more than willing to help the club, it's about opening up those opportunities.

I agree with VantagePoint about DAOs and NFTs it is where "membership" should end up. AFL has a complicated ticketing and membership infrastructure both legally and technologically. At the moment the AFL is looking at the collectible angle - like NBA Top Shot. But I think we could see social...
