Nah that's too generous - a contract is between two parties. Although, I think you mean put a price on his head...Don't care if Geelong wants to pay him a randsom (to then smooth it out over the next 3). If you can't satisfy the club with a trade you don't get the player. They're not a free...
Close off the national and preseason draft option for current players. Player can nominate a club but if a deal can't be reached you stay put. If player doesn't like that they can pick another club. That would stop clubs like Geelong sandbagging others.
Was very frustrating watching this one. Swans were good but I can't help but think we had there measure and would beat them and the other 3 in the top 4.
Anyway, can't stand Geelong so please go on with it swans.
Apparently it's ok to screw clubs over if you can get the player to nominate your club. We're told you win some you lose some. So, let's start returning the favour and going after other clubs players well ahead of trade week. In the case of the smith trade, I don't think we'd get De Koning but...
Got it. Wow pick 24, I thought he was a much later pick. He's still only 20 and looks like he needs a fair bit more physical development. That said his bio has him at 183 cm and 81 kg which is surprising. He looks smaller than that. I'd give him at least another year.
Yep, for us to become a better team we need improvement from the supporting cast.
I didn't say our stars/leaders can't have off games. Of course over a season they can and do. And with improved depth and system maybe we can be less reliant on them over 23 games and maybe even have them primed...
I'm not giving any player a free pass for that performance. We were awful across the board. I just expect better from our more experienced players in a final. Not sure why that's controversial.
Our best players didn't need 'double teaming'. Their opponents completely out played them. If you lose and your best players don't show up you blame them. Pretty simple.
I think you're getting a bit carried away here. Yes, Sweets combative but It's not like hes putting it on a platter for the port mids.
And along with the resident f##$wits on here, the coaching staff at Port Adelaide didn't agree with your strategy either. Sweet only played seniors once soldo...
Yes he was and still is. He's useless in every other facet of the game other than stoppages. That said, I'm starting to think he's attributes are more important as a ruckman than English's and he'd suit our team better.
One thing I agree with in all of that is the focus on the coach and over looking the playing group. Don't get me wrong, Bevo should be criticised and I'm in the time for change camp. However, that performance was equally on the players. And it started with our senior players, the captain in...
This would be more like the dunkley to essendon trade request given Houston is contracted. Port, like we did, will ask for overs and no deal gets done. If Houston was uncontracted then that's a different story...
Re the smith trade - if Geelong don't want to part with a F1 then a player could be thrown in. I'd be after Shuan Mannagh. A quick, small forward that can slot into 22 straight away.
So our initial ask could be 2024 1st, 2nd and Mannagh as a starting point.
