The Sunday Age today included its annual footy season preview magazine. It has stats and a brief comment on each player from each team. It's usually the only edition of the Age I buy all year, and I don't think I'll be bothering even with this one edition in future. Thought this commentary on...
Didn't Tony Hall play with us in '88? Without having the records in front of me, my recollection is he played in the '88 flag and then did his knee in the state game in '89.
Either way, it is an amazing stat. I also didn't realise Greg Whittlesea was good enough to have been all-Aus, given his...
The picture attached to this story shows Clarko 'refusing to shake Jeff's hand'. That is a photo from last year, not last Sunday. More grubby journalism by the Hun, attempting to perpetuate the story and support their trash journo. Admittedly the caption does not explicitly state that it is from...
I was really looking forward to this show, the format has great potential, but was very disappointed. As others have said, far too many on the list for a 1 hour show meant it was very rushed. Also looked like the list had been thrown together in about 10 minutes, no consistency in the...
Re: AGM on Tonight
The major sponsor for next year is Tasmania / Tassie government. The initial contract ran from 2007-2011 inclusive. The new arrangement which has been the subject of so much debate here is to run from 2012-2016.
As someone so passionately interested in the subject surely...
Re: AGM on Tonight
Actually, I think you are 'elected unopposed' if you are the only person to nominate for an election. However that is just wording, not important.
I was responding because I believe that Pessimistic was asserting that proper process has not been followed, which is simply...
Re: AGM on Tonight
Please name board members who were not elected? I realise that some board members have initially been co-opted outside of an AGM, but all must nominate for election at a subsequent AGM. It is not their 'fault' if nobody contests their position on the board at that stage...
As others have said, the board is not required to put a matter like this to a vote of the members. The board is empowered by the club constitution to determine where it plays home matches (assuming of course that this is approved by the AFL).
There is a relevant analogy with federal...
Anything which is to be voted on - be it a motion for a special resolution, to change the club constitution, a board election or anything else - needs to be listed on the agenda and voting members advised of the impending vote. I stand to be corrected on the time period, but I think 28 days...
Re: Okay, I will say it because somebody has to.
Thanks for the information Cryptkeeper, appreciate you having the courage to post it.
I've thought for a long time that there had to be something seriously wrong within the playing / coaching group. Our performances have simply been too far below...
Everything on your list.
Also totally agree re lack of hunger and effort.
I would also add poor list management since 2008 in failing to properly address obvious deficiencies.
Just 18 months after winning a premiership, every aspect of the football department is in need of a major review and...
Regardless of what has happened since - and Saturday night was the lowest point for five years in my opinion - nothing will ever diminish the 2008 flag in my mind, or cast it as a negative.
Grand Final day 2008 and indeed that whole weekend was one of the highlights of my life, and nothing can...
The Ablett one is fairly unremarkable, because as Catsace noted there are only six years between senior finishing and junior starting. I would think there would be dozens of players around the league who would have played against both. Even looking at a Hawthorn side that was mostly very...
Someone will always sledge on any subject not specifically banned under the rules of the game (and even then there will be the occasional transgression).
How far each individual will go will be based on their own personal history, set of values and being able to 'live with' the comment once the...
Melbourne was able to raise that sort of money in one night because the clubs future existince was at stake. It was a 'debt demolition' function, and survival instinct kicked in amongst their supporters.
Full marks to them, but it is far easier to raise serious cash when people have genuine...
