All the best with recovery etc.
As a side note, I have always felt that players who slide in should almost be penalised to tripping, what we get too often is the other player falling into their back and the player sliding rewarded with a free. There is a difference between cracking in lower...
That last Paragraph is just plain ignorant and uneducated... I love footy at all levels and embrace all history and tradition, comparing today to 1930 is chalk and cheese but the bottom line is vfl history is included in the afl because essentially (and luckily in a lot of ways for Vic clubs)...
I would love to be a FB or CHB Cagga, satisfy those itchy feet i've had for 15 years. I would at least exceed juice one area; Weight :D.
It just struck me to be honest, I have seen him play at both ER and Monbulk a couple of times and never really noticed. Obviously I wasn't watching too hard...
Caught the last couple of Monbulk Valley Vision game, never took great notice when i've seen him llive but is Hugson a left footer? Seems a very awkward kicking style almost as if he's kicking the footy with his opposite foot. Numerous set shot and around the ground kicks.
No, not if the league (VFA/VFL) hasn't specifically made cups for all the premiers for that era also.
I like and admire your passion. As a general football lover who spends a bit of time on the net researching football from across australia, I follow football at all levels and states various...
Which is what my argument is, they are what they are. Not VFL/AFL flags which has become the premier competition. Clubs can acknowledge their history, and I encourage them to do so, but they are not VFL/AFL flags.
I envy Carltons 16 VFL/AFL flags, well done, I wouldn't mind walking into punt...
I think that means prior to the formation of the VFL.
Which is why you can't acknowledge them in the same vein as VFL/AFL flags.
However, I think the 9 VFA flags are an important part of the Bulldogs and should be acknowledged by the cub itself.
Wouldn't say the same breath, they would probably need to suck some air in at some stage, but Port won 30whatever SANFL flags and can acknowledge them as JUST THAT. They are not VFL/AFL flags, they weren't in the competition at that time, but they won flags in the competition that they were in...
Why is it bad to win a flag in a different competition??
as I said earlier. It is what it is, a flag in a different competition which every club has the right to acknowledge as that. No they are not VFL/AFL flags. But it is still a flag that they won in that competition that has contributed to...
You know if Carlton were no longer the blues, they are basically still Carlton with a few restructures and a different name...
You could nearly call them Carlton still if you wanted to, that's how close the two are... oh wait
Now you are contridicting yourself
Well, sold, you're right then, scrap Essendons early flags and south Melbournes. Scrap Fitzroys history. Forget about all the people who used to play for the local club down the road, they changed their name, guess they won't need their 10 year premiership reunion. Scrap Nth Melbournes flags...
So when Coburg Football club became the tigers when they aligned with Richmond, they forfeit all history as a club and start from scratch. Last time i checked they are still Coburg football club.
Whensome country football club moves leagues and there is already a team with the same nickname...
My argument is about individual clubs being able to recognise their own history, it's part of what makes them who they today. Not about what constitutes a VFL/AFL flag
If we're not recognising clubs history why do we brand clubs with when they were established???
If Noth Melbourne can't...
More then happy for individual cluubs to recognise their own history and include them as part of the make up of the club etc.
For e.g. North Melbourne, Footscray, Hawthorn (Richmond to a leeser extent) spent significant time in the VFA before the VFL compared to the rest. Most clubs around...

Had a long countdown to the launch of the new site, anyone know when it will be working?? Been at 0d, 0h, 0m etc. for a while now, at least a week i think?
so what about the 3 game memberships etc...
Maybe the overall numbers are hard to compare etc.
But 20,000 3 game members @ $80 a pop equals $1.6 million in the coffers.... Say what you like about it but I know i'd rather have a swarm of 3 game members than not at all...
Didn't realise Gembrook ended up getting him back. I know they were keen on him and with 1 or 2 others coming from pakenham were in with a shot. But I had heard despite being slightly disillusioned with Pakys coach was going to stick it out. Will be a very handy player this year particularly...
Some talk around that Upwey have signed ex-AFL player Chad Davis. Was he not mates with Porter and Sheers at East Ringwood?
The Tigers with stripes may need to order a new cheque book...
Doona, I think that is what will likely occur in the YVMDFL, but this report was apparently more in depth and covered the geographics of the 2 leagues and future growth/structures etc. (from what i understand anyway)
Made reference to this in Part-3 But can anyone (Graeme Tuplin included) give us any details on the AFLVIC report into football in the East/Outer East that was due out late September. This was a bit of noise about it early but nothing ever seemed to come out.
Just curious because the two...
had a feeling the report from AFLVIC into football in the outer north-east of melbourne was due around now, anybody have an idea on when the findings will be made public?
Thought the Upwey Gembrook match was a pretty good game overall, while I didn't think either team dominatated I do believe Gembrook got better reward going forward which was probably as much a tick for the Gembrook defence as it was for Upweys poor disposal.
Both sides would need to improve...
has the league ever really pushed hard to go the other way? it seems content on drifting out towards yea, alexandra, thorton etc. and the geographical landscape has shifted from what the league was. I think Mt. Evelyn coming to the league has been a big tick, probably for both parties. But what...
having been involved with the Eastern Ranges in an off field capacity for a few years some that i remember and had got to see a fair bit of were:
Healsville: Zac Kelly 17*, Carl Morandi 16, Peter Monk 17. Cameron Arnott 17
Monbulk: Ryan Creed 16, Jack Besley 16
Upwey: Chris Kane 17, Liam Burke...
it was originally a joint venture with both Eastern and YVMDFL, Ranges haves been there for a few years now and i remember finals in '06 played there when the Ranges had already used it all year as office and training base
Graeme, what is the reason we no longer use the Kilsyth ground to showcase YV footy.
- Surface was second to none
- Change rooms were fair and of decent size
- The size of the ground was perfect for Valley footy
- There were bitumen tennis courts on site which could easily catered netball
-...
