    AFLW AFLW/VFLW 2024 - General Discussion

Honestly looked like we'd finish bottom of the ladder so a season of growth and a mid-ladder finish is a good outcome in my eyes. All about keeping the team together for next season and following up on our growth.

Welcome to the Bulldogs Sam Darcy

At this point he's probably going to be the gold standard for best tall in the draft for at least a few years.

Yeah I got a feeling that Johnson is going to be a very sought after coach in a few years.

He can tackle but no thanks, dude is fragile.

Big worry is his body not letting him out there but he's a cheap option in a position that we need depth in.

    AFLW AFLW/VFLW 2024 - General Discussion

I think losing Ellie for the season might have been a net positive for the team as crazy as it sounds. It means that we have had to find more balance in the midfield instead of Ellie dragging us over the line with individual brilliance.

At this point I don't think we have anyone else out of contract.

I'd certainly at least look at bring Lazarro into Footscray and seeing how he goes, dominates VFL and then gets the sub vest the majority of the time. He's probably someone that genuinely needs a change of scenery. Alwyn is the pick of the litter there, Elijah doesn't even really look that...

Yeah probably, if he hadn't injured his knee this year then I could have seen him getting picked up as a rookie because he's a good medium defender but at this point I don't blame him for coming to the conclusion that it wasn't happening.

That's a shame, guess he was pushed out following his knee injury. Was weird that he never looked like coming back when he was fit and playing those games for Deer Park. He's also going full time as assistant coach for their under 16s.

Caleb Daniel's (absolutely enormous) Bandwagon led by the Giant Clydesdales of Glory

Unlike Smith's statement, I actually believe Caleb when he talks about how grateful he is for the last decade with us.

Yeah that's the big reason as to why the leadership group are copping heavy fines, they needed to nip it in the bud.

Surely Keath is out too, I'd rather rookie any developing tall instead of giving him another year

Confirmed Matthew Kennedy: To Dogs p/of 4-way trade: B. Smith (WB) & pick 45 to Geel / pick 38 to Carl / Macrae (WB) to StK / pick 17 & Kennedy (Carl) to

He'll fill the same role that Macrae did this year and we will probably rest Libba more this season so he'll get to rotate more.

Welcome to the Bulldogs Matthew Kennedy

Someone on WOOF described him as ALDI Dunkley and that seems fitting, a lot of the same traits he has but not quite as good.

Welcome to the Bulldogs Matthew Kennedy

Looking at his highlights from this year and in particular his tackling, he just latches on and doesn't let go. Our tackling this year was soft at times so that's a big change.

We've had some complaints about auto-renewals in the past but I don't believe we're Ticketmaster. The big concern is that the new expiration dates and CVV were being used without your permission, I'd get in touch with the ACCC because that's a pretty big breach of privacy.

We probably start managing Libba next year by not bringing him interstate or resting him for games where opponent aren't very strong at clearances. That in itself is why Kennedy is appealing, so that we can bring a big bodied mid that likes to tackle.

Most Carlton fans that I have interacted with think that Kennedy is a player who as yoyoed in and out of the seniors and got a bad deal overall as he was never the worst player.

He's contracted and, with the Giants losing a fair few players this season, he was always going to cost more this year than he's probably worth.
