Yes of course, but Duryea, Libba, L Jones and JJ are all very likely to retire. That is without cutting depth players. In a shallow draft you probably don't want many more than 4 picks.
Considering the amount of salary cap we've opened up I'd really have liked to pay out one of our fringe players and delist them early to open up an extra spot. We've got a significant portion of the list somewhat likely to move on at the end of next year and it'll be a worse draft (Baker, Scott...
Sharp would be good if we think he can lock down the second wing. Basically pushes Poulter and Baker down the pecking order.
XOH then could take the role McNeil was playing as a defensively minded half forward using their speed to cut off angles. He's more versatile which will allow a few more...
Stringer hasn't was lived up to 2015 and was largely used to bring in Richards. WIN.
Dahlhaus did very little at Geelong and his compo brought in West. WIN.
We wanted to keep Hamling. The pick we got for him was a key part of the pick upgrade which got us Lipinski though. 50/50
Hunter did...
Richmond could have 4 picks by then at this rate. If they end up with 12ish I reckon they'd strongly consider it. They either convince him to stay long term or get a nice trade piece.
I somewhat agree but to the contrary:
1. We were a kick (1st Geelong game) from finishing 3rd on the ladder and 95% of the team will be available next year.
2. JUH, Freijah, JOD, Busslinger, Darcy, Sanders, Gallagher all have upside which could offset any regression from older players.
3...
Trades/FA:
1. Smith and F3 for Pick 15, Pick 35 and F2
2. Macrae and Pick 32 for Pick 24 and Pick 43
3. Jed Bews as a FA for small defender depth.
4. I'd love Houston but unsure we can convince him. Pick 15 and future picks may be enough for Port though.
5. We have about 10 guys who could retire...
I'd be pretty surprised if the basis of the trade isn't already figured out. Geelongs somewhat unexpected finish to the year has diluted the value of their 1st there's enough value in other picks to get it done. Even if it ends up Pick 20, Pick 40 and a F2 or something similar.
In the Stringer trade thread there's a link to who he was apparently associated with and its a convicted murderer. I didn't want him before that and he's somehow made himself even less desirable.
Basically right. He hasn't played in our first mid rotations for a couple of years. Last year he got some inside minutes while playing as a HFF and did reasonably well. This year Bevo has tried a few younger mids through the midfield and Macrae has been almost exclusively a HFF. He missed the...
I wouldn't be against trying to open up Bakers list spot. I've got Poulter ahead of him and we will likely bring in more outside mids through the draft. An extra pick this draft could be useful.
Cleary lucky to be contracted for so long.
Can see Hawthorn missing the finals this year. Of their 14 wins only 3 were against top 8 teams. They'll get a top 6 draw next year which normally means 9-10 games against the top 8 from the year before.
Battle and Barrass will obviously help but so many players also had career years that I...
Bont, Treloar, Richards, Libba as the clear A-Team
Sanders, Gallagher, Garcia, West, 2024 1st round pick as the next in lines.
Don't think it is so bad. Moving on Macrae means the younger guys will get a clearer run at consistent games, even if it is as a HF rotation.
Busslinger and Croft haven't even played a game. Hardly worthy of big contracts. Gallagher and O'Donnell have already signed ahead and neither worthy of any big increase. Darcy also isn't coming off a base contract - but will get an increase.
This is the sort of stuff every team deals with every...
Would be good if you move on Riolo, Baker, Bolton etc and are worried about having some experience. That said, not sure you need that if Hopper and Taranto are fit? I guess you wouldn't miss a mid round pick when you'll have about 100 first rounders
