Re: Netball - 2009 ANZ Championship
I think your coach is obsessed with having tall shooters and I don't know that it's a good thing. It looks like you're going to have 3 shooters 190cm+ next season, but no top class GA.
If the rumours and speculation are right, your shooters are going...
That's not totally right. It still depends on it being a competitive match. Last year's game was effectively over at half time or certainly just into the 2nd half anyway, and hundreds of thousands of people switched channels or switched off.
Who cares anyway. Let's just say that they both rated their socks off.
Only disappointing thing is that this year, neither the AFL grand final, nor the NRL grand final managed to outrate the grand final of a cooking show!!!
Comically biased commentators all part of Nine's cunning promotion

No, that's not right. People watching GO weren't counted in the ratings for the NRL GF. What happens is that the ratings for 9 and GO are added together to give the network ratings for the night. But when it comes to ratings for individual programs, they are separate.
Certainly not huge ratings in Perth - around 70,000. These are the approximate average ratings for each city:
Sydney 1,160,000
Melbourne 680,000
Brisbane 560,000
Perth 70,000
Adelaide 50,000
Don't think it was that. I think Rabs just thinks they have to do that sort of thing for the Victorian audience, which is simply ridiculous. A bit like how someone commented on them explaining rules to Victorians. Which again is just stupid. I've never seen AFL commentators explaining rules to...
The ratings are in and the GF got a healthy audience in Melbourne. In preliminary figures, 650,000 watched the game in Melbourne. In fact, more people watched in Melbourne than Brisbane. I know that Melbourne had a team in the game and Brisbane didn't, but even so, that would have surely been...
What was I thinking? Of course they won't show it.
What a total disgrace!!! :thumbsd:
When did they actually cut it in Melbourne? Because I was watching the coverage and just a minute or so after full time, Ray Warren said something that sounded very much like he was closing the...
Re: Netball - 2009 ANZ Championship
You must be getting her mixed up with someone else, Ben. She's always been one of the most accurate shooters in the comp. Admittedly her form may not have been as good this year, but it's certainly no mistake for the Firebirds to sign her. She's just the sort...
I was listening to SEN at various times during the week and whenever I listened, it was completely about the AFL. Now, sure, I expected the AFL to dominate the coverage, but seeing as the Storm were playing in a Prelim Final IN Melbourne, I did expect it to get just a bit of a run. Perhaps they...
At this stage, the TV guide has the coverage listed as 4:30 - 7:00, so basically that's just the pre-game and the NRL GF and that's it. Hopefully they'll stick around for the presentation if Melbourne win it!
But anyway, at this stage, no sign of them showing the Toyota Cup GF and...
Apart from that, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, a part of the NRL/Channel 9 compromise deal over the twilight grand final was that in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the finals, the games would now be played on Friday night and Saturday night. And we know how much sway Channel 9 in Sydney has...
Okay, so what huge blockbuster AFL game is on Friday night that Channel 9 are so scared of?
Exactly. None! All this time, we assumed that they wouldn't put the Friday night NRL games on at a decent hour simply because they didn't want to go up against the AFL. Well, what's the...
The Australian womens team often have practice matches against top Australian mens teams, and the matches are usually very close. Usually the women win actually.
You're right with your basketball reference though. Most of the top male Australian netballers are actually not very tall, so they...
Re: Netball - 2009 ANZ Championship
No they haven't, Ben!!!
Ben's a bit confused by something I said on another forum. And I was actually talking about the Firebirds, not the Magic. The official ANZ Champs website made a mistake and didn't add 2 competition points on for the Firebirds...
Anthony WAS my emercency!
So I have to hope none of my other midfielders go down this week.
Bad luck for him. Seems to be a lot of injuries. Or do you just notice them more when they're in your supercoach teams? ;)
I originally had Kreuzer and swapped him for McIntosh too. Not only that, but I originally had Richardson and Houlihan, and swapped them for Deledio and Raines. So not a good start. I did have Ablett as my captain though, but I suppose quite a few did that?
By the way, anyone know what a good...
You guys are hilarious talking about others being biased.
Didn't see a replay of the second Folau incident, but the first one he just tripped over and took a dive trying to get a penalty. On ABC radio they called it a terrible piece of acting.
Some of the Toyota Cup games have been great this year. The Brisbane / Warriors game on the weekend was a classic with Brisbane getting up in the last minute, just like the way their senior team lost to the Storm in the NRL the previous week.
Canberra will be the favourites for the game.
The Storm always used to be a LOT of people's second favourite team. Well, that was up until now anyway........

Melbourne Storm faces mounting ill-feeling
Dean Ritchie and Dave Donaghy

Yeah, but last year, it didn't interfere with Channel 9's 6 o'clock news like it does this year in most states. I was a bit worried that they might not want to move the news.
They're still not all planning on showing the presentation though, which is a shame, especially in Melbourne if they...
