GF coverage in Melbourne

At this stage, the TV guide has the coverage listed as 4:30 - 7:00, so basically that's just the pre-game and the NRL GF and that's it. Hopefully they'll stick around for the presentation if Melbourne win it!

What was I thinking? Of course they won't show it.

What a total disgrace!!!

When did they actually cut it in Melbourne? Because I was watching the coverage and just a minute or so after full time, Ray Warren said something that sounded very much like he was closing the coverage for Melbourne viewers. I thought it sounded so damn obvious that Channel 9 in Melbourne were going off to the news right then.

The ratings are in and the GF got a healthy audience in Melbourne. In preliminary figures, 650,000 watched the game in Melbourne. In fact, more people watched in Melbourne than Brisbane. I know that Melbourne had a team in the game and Brisbane didn't, but even so, that would have surely been unthinkable not too long ago.

Which only goes to show that the game isn't some sort of ratings poison for Channel 9 in Melbourne like they seem to treat it as. Why the hell they would cut it and not show the Melbourne team getting presented with the trophy is just beyond belief. Anybody who simply couldn't wait until 7:30 for the news would have already switched over and watched the Channel 7 news surely???
