I know I'm a broken record but these academies from basically 11 years of age need to be scrapped. Extracting the talent from local clubs disconnects young players from their local club whilst also telling young players that don't make it that their dreams are over of making AFL/VFL football...

Only issue mate is that all VFL clubs have 4 byes, the players will want top $$ and most of them enjoy a break when an opportunity arises. The majority only want to play 'local' at their home club.

I agree about the NAB League but the VFL needs to stay. Clubs such as Williamstown and Port Melbourne have provided great opportunities for players to play at a higher level. IMO the Academies at U/12 level set the tone where kids walk away from the game because they didn't make some bs...

Perhaps the major League teams affiliate with a district team? Reserves football no longer has 7-8 players knocking down the door to claim a senior spot. It has also become that bad that nobody watches it.

Mate I think the Coaching career of German is over! The most brilliant tactician I’ve seen but man management pretty ordinary and that is what let’s him down. Collins imo could still be an AFL coach as he has man management and tactics covered.

Symes will play plenty of Development footy at Williamstown and the club believes that he is a senior prospect down the track. Impressed all so far! Won't see him at Yarra in 2013

I can tell you he was and is the worst medallist in recent GV history. Poor discipline and wouldn't have had him in the top 30 GV players that year!
