Interesting the rumours that fly around on here....

Wandin players not playing because they aren't being paid is a joke!!!

Rumour has it the boys down there are a fairly tight knit group!

I'm sure all teams and players inc. love playing footy with there 'mates' its not all about the money as though everyone seems think...!!!

Tips- emerald to knock off Woori in a tight one
Wandin to knock off belgrave and break there hoodoo!!

Could not agree more, this rumour looks like bulls#@t, smells like bulls#@t, and is 100% bulls#@t.

I am sure all the teams in the finals are closely knit, and are just looking forward to playing, nothing else on their minds at all.

Can we now close this issue and simply talk football

Leigh Aitken had his suspension overturned last night on appeal and will play on Sunday. Shame $2500 of Sevilles hard earned is gone for the correct decision to be reached. In the end Yarra Glen got what they wanted and had him miss the final against them.

coulda used woodsy's lawyer to threaten the ump. been done before

Not an Upwey fan, but can't see them losing it this year.

How's the form at Yea? Got there about 10 mins before start of the seniors, as most spectators probably would. Setup my chair in a nice shady area, hit up the bar for my first frothy. Just before quarter time, bit peckish, it is lunch time after all. Hit the canteen. Oh wait, there's no food left? It's not even quarter time of the main attraction, there are still people rolling in and paying $12 for the privilege, but good luck buying any food.

Absolutely disgraceful.

At half time I had no choice but to stroll down the street and buy a roll from a bakery, and then Yea had the nerve to try and charge me $12 again, when the only reason I stepped out was because of their own incompetence. What a joke.

Thats why they should keep finals at venues where its done properly. Woori, Healesville and Warburton are the three best finals venues by a mile.

Disagree with woori, the ground not up to scratch this year anyway. Junction was fantastic last year. Great food and ground in great nick. Agree with healsville. Never been to warby for a final so can't comment.

Not the ground that is the problem, obviously Yea did not want to be left with unsold stock, but just not good enough. Not sure what would have happened if it was a big crowd.

How did it go at Alex????

We all have an obligation to exercise a duty of care in the conduct of an activity with anyone. It could be considered a "breach of duty of care" that a player supposably hip and shouldered a player who was being attended to and helped off the ground by a trainer.

Make sense?
a duty of care only exists when there is a relationship between the plaintiff and defendant

  • A commercial relationship between the parties (such as a contractual relationship or an undertaking).
  • A special relationship between the parties (such as that between parent and child).
  • An undertaking by the defendant to do something for the plaintiff.

which im sure would be void as they are entering into a contact sport

the only duty of care argument would be against the belgrave trainer as a relationship has been entere

I think you're over complicating things a little bit there - nobody was accused of murder. If (and I only use the generic "if" because I have no idea what happened - and don't really care) there was a little bit of argy bargy whilst someone was being attended to by trainers, that would come under misconduct. Possibly against the players code of conduct if the YV has one. So whilst all the legal platitudes above are quaint, it really doesn't apply to what may or may not have happened during the year.

And from what I can gather the key factor was the severity of the 2nd impact.

Rumour had it that Blake dismissed that the 2nd incident had any actual force
It was only the trainer that had an issue with a "gentle shove"

yes meanwhile in September. The game that interests me most is the Belgrave Vs Woori game. Woori won in a low scoring last time they met however I'm not sure they have the ability to kick a winning score this time around. who would Wandin and Upwey rather play the week after?

Leauge presentation Monday night who do you think will take out the comp bnf??
I think top 2 will be Hedge & Myers in any order..

Myers is a big chance, votes will get stolen by Fowkes and many others.
Stubley from Belgrave is a big chance, had a great year as well as Irving from warby.

Will be very interested to see how Fowkes will poll. To kick a ton in first division is no easy feat. Given big Vinnie kicked over 150 goals in 2nd division a few years ago and didnt poll very well. I think in one game he kicked 18 goals and didnt even get 3 votes.

Wow, what a weekend of footy. Upwey straight in both grades and they look good. Wandin struggled, and didn't kick straight, and Woori just get it done and turn it up come finals time. Will be tight games all over the park this Sunday at gembrook. League medal- top 3 hedge, Stubley, fowkes.

How did the finals go at all grounds?
Had a burger at junction on Saturday and they're brilliant! Ground was in great nick too
Woori was good today, great weather - although they ran out of beer at 1/4 time of the seniors & had to go get more. Stock up guys!

its been a really good effort this by emerald and Belgrave, both coming up in the last two years, both would have learnt valuable lessons from there finals experience, it will be a good stepping stone for the summer give some belief to the players and supporters.
both clubs should be proud of there coaching choices, young guys that can play footy but more importantly understand how to conduct there clubs well

Any truth in the rumour Alexandra looking at options? Was at the Kyabram DFL finals yesty and was told there was an Alex contingent at Saturdays 2nd Semi Finals .... maybe more for recruiting rather than relocating options???
