I think his form in the VFL certainly warranted more games than he was given this year. He played 18 in each of the past 2 years. At least you always knew what you would get from him. He was all in.

Hugh has told me that he wants stay around the club in some capacity so this is a good start to achieving that.

North’s treatment of senior players like Hugh is why they have no senior leadership.

Sorry Hugh, maybe if you were 48 years old and in Clarkson’s back pocket because of your hawthorn days, and your name was Liam, you might’ve had a shot.

Offer him a farewell game for his 3 years of service and 38 games?!?

I like Hugh and I think he's been a positive influence on the playing group at a VFL level but I don't think his form warranted a game nor do I think we owe him one.

He's one senior type player who was totally worth it. He protected our super young mids at times in both AFL and VFL and even played second ruck at times and did surprisingly well. Very thankful for his service, thanks Hugh!
