Thought he was great again tonight. Got some time in the middle this week which I reckon was a nice lol prob to Freo who would have promised Gus a midfield role.
Or to troll his brother
That's in brownlow leading form

Yeah thought he was very good, playing a bit more defensive side of midfield, let Trac, Viney etc get forward more. Good with the ball and some big tackles.

Pretty crazy coincidence that ever since he signed his deal he's moved into midfield. Convince me that he didn't hold the club to ransom saying if he didn't get to play midfield he'd leave and we finally caved at round 20 which is the exact week he re signed.

He's not even that good in midfield.

Strange isn't it.

Thought he started the first quarter on fire in there, but faded after that.

Not opposed to splitting his time 50/50 between mid and back. Move Salem up the ground for patches and consider bringing Bowser back in. Probably means Jordan has to give way, but meh.

I hate that none of our mids ever rest forward, and none of our half forwards run through the middle. Gus is actually great at using his body in a marking contest, why does he never drift forward and try beat an opponent.
Oliver I'm not sure has ever even been inside fitty and Trac I'm betting refuses to because he can't kick for shit so doesn't want it kicked to him.

We should have let him go if those were the terms.

Backline has functioned noticably worse since he went into the midfield.

For myself, I prefer Brayshaw on the wing, he is a very smart player and the wing lets him leverage that the most and hence the intercepts in the backline because of his smarts, but I am not a fan of his distribution.

He played his role much better in the backline and actually disposed of the ball much better. Probably because he was going for safer kicks after an intercept mark. He also pushed up the wings anyway from the backline and had an impact. Apart from the Grand Final I don't think he ever did much on the wing that Jordon doesn't do just as well.

12 clearances and 38 touches the other day. He’s definitely a very good midfielder, although I prefer him at HBF

Three weeks is a small sample size. Doubt they’d have made that deal anyway

I doubt it was written in the contract but I do get the vibe there was a bit of a handshake to give him more time in the middle at least for the rest of the year. He spoke publicly all season about his desire to play more in the midfield.

Probably yeah, but I also think they did it to get Salem in the game a bit more and to initially cover the Harmes absence

What’s stopping Goodwin playing him in the backline now that he’s signed?

Surely if he was holding the club to ransom he wouldn’t of signed yet.

Yeah this is what I don't get. Fine with Gus playing more midfield but Petraccas forward time has gone DOWN since Gus went into the middle.
Absurd. There’s a lot of shit since R10 that doesn’t make sense. I can only hope Goody is insane and is going to unleash some things during finals that they’ve moronically been holding back
