no thread bout it yet so thought id start one, who will be likely premiers and who will struggle due to loss of key players to firsts??

IMO St Kevins will promote most of their good Yr 10s, but Xavier won't.
Only Hannebery will play 1sts (and probably in a finishing role). Cachia, Purcell etc... will be relied upon heavily in the Skevs 1sts engine room.

Therefore, players like Pasceri, Rennie and Harrangozo will dominate the 10As. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Xavier have spent a fortune on their infrastructure. Their new coaches are 10As - Ian Aitken (Carlton), 2nds - Matt Hannebery (Bulldogs), 3rds - Phil Lovell (North) and 10 Bs - Shane Healy (Melbourne). Add them to John Kennedy in the 1sts and a couple of young teachers who have apparently played a fair bit and seem to run the show and they are a growing force.

haileybury would do alright if all its guns played 10A's...but it appears that quite a few of em will be sneaking into the 1s line-up for the bloods...

Guys, I can tell you for a fact that Purcell( skevs) is a monty to be drafted. He is being looked at by at least three clubs and has all the physical attributes that they want. I know they were very impressed with him at the nationals last year in Darwin.
How many guys his size can run like he can?
He only needs to improve his kicking.

nah mate, that is untrue. purcell is a great player, however up in darwin he was lacking some form and played on and off the bench.

BGS will be the condenders this yr like always, losing only jakobi and Watts to the 1s and also having 3 borderline 1st players

I think we should keep this as the thread for the whole year. Updates after every game should go in here for the 10A's.

Xavier 19-14-128 DEF Geelong College 1-2-8
Pasceri kicked 3 or 4. Thornton 2-3, Tiernan 2-3, McClure 2-3, Goss 2-3
Best:(In no particular Order) Pasceri (25 touches), Goss (19 touches) Curtain (18 touches) Mile (16 touches)
The game was certainly one that was won on the wings. Goss and Curtain both started the game on the wings and dominated throughout the game. Pasceri was his tough hard self, busting through packs and drifiting forward to take strong contested marks that resulted in assists, or goals for himself. Callan Thornton was fantastic on the forward flank, getting away from his opponents on quick leads and being delivered to by the midfielders. Stand outs for Geelong were a kid named Louie(#16) and a tall #1. A tall Xavier spine and flankers also created pressure for the opposition, often causing a clearance from the Geelong boys, only to result in a mark from Xavier on the wings and half back flank. Nick Meehan was brilliant at CHB as was Ben Plants agility and closing speed. The firty Geelong side decided to be physical after that and many tried tactics that resulted in behind the stuff play. A scuffle broke out at the 3 Qtr break and whilst nothing happened it set the standard for a physical last quarter. Geelong got carried away, and dont like losing. To their credit though, they were competitive and even stepped up a notch in the last quarter. Xavier just too strong and are looking seriously at an undefeated year.
A crushing and demorilising victory by the Xavierians who sung the song loud. A great start to the year.

SKC won by 13 goals or so against HAILEBURY

I am so sick of ppl talking up xavier in the firsts and 10 A's

Should be a great game SKC vs XAVS - always a great game since the epic 1 point victory after the siren to SKC last year
