I'm no doctor, but surely this is between the ears for Weid. How does someone become so highly rated as a junior, then not step up? He's mostly playing among his peers and people younger than him, so he has reason to be confident. I wouldn't usually suggest a hare-brained scheme, but at the moment I'd even back a hypnotist.
Plenty of gun junior's don't make it though. AFL so different to junior footy.

Mental toughness just as big a factor, which IMO, we haven't recruited for for too long.

Yeah I find it perplexing. I'd be happy if we cut our losses with him at year's end and find a hungry, seasoned body in one of the minor leagues.

I thought Laverde and Kelly tried hard but generally, yeah, pretty uninspiring. Hopefully RFK is pouring over lists and highlighting names this morning.
You are probably right, I think I need to stop posting for a while, hopefully the players are forced to watch the replay again and again.

Voss must be laughing and shaking his head. Probably given up on trying knowing it doesn’t matter what he does this bloke will keep getting played ahead of him. Really don’t know how 7 straight weeks without a goal can be justified. And it’s more than the goals. It’s the fact he looks so far off it

Voss isn’t close to an AFL spot as a Key Tall. Draper, Flip, Bryan and Wright are all in front of him before you get into the Weid of it all.

Then there’s Langford/Stringer who are fellow Mediums who don’t offer enough pressure to be played as smalls. This is more who Voss is competing with and both are very good AFL players

They have a chance to leave him out next week and keep a similar structure which has not always lined up this year. Play the two rucks and have one ruck play forward pocket for some percentage even if they are not genuine forwards. Get Langford to do the km out of CHF.

The distinction to draw between Wright and Weideman as prospects is that Weidemann has no real fall back trick.

He's average everything and possibly below average speed. He may well have better hands than Wright but they're only average and he's outreach few opponents.

Wright is so tall and such a good kick he doesn't really need to be more than average at anything else.

I look at Weidemann play and see no real reason that 50/50 he can beat his opponent.

I tried to be positive about the signing but that's long gone. He was a first round pick, though.

Weidemann needs to go to the VFL for his own sake as much as anything. If we can do well, he MIGHT still have a role to play in the seniors.

Yep. Thinking we need to ask langford to play CHF. Have been thinking that for a bit
When setterfield is back, langford to CHF, perkins to langford role, setterfield into midfield spot perkins has been occupying

Fair but we've also got Stewart on the list.

Given that Stewart was most recently playing forward there is no case for both to be on the list.
Stewart was playing as a defender old mate.

I agree 100% that Weed has not been up to it for too long but I don't know who we can bring that is a structural fit given the role he has been playing (KPF).

Doesn't really though, Wright's back, there's zero reason to keep playing him now. He clearly doesn't fit the role that the game plan wants so rather than gift him games adjust the game plan. It's what good sides do, they have different game plans, they don't just stubbornly plug a bloke in over and over.
I agree with the prevailing view that he has not been good enough - bind Freddy could see that but I don't know who we can bring ion to replace him given injuries and what we have that would slot in to his spot. I guess that is the next but of this. Who do we bring in to replace him?

I'd be happy to give you a go at this stage mate.

Cox would seem the answer, as he has the cardio capacity to lead all day plus in time can be a relief ruckman in situations such as yesterday.

Otherwise, its a shame the MSD kid went down when he did, as his first couple of VFL games looked very good.

That's my point though. Why do we have to have a like for like replacement?

Plan A isn't working, so let's try plan B.
