I actually said after Saturday night, he is the most underrated player in the comp.

His names belongs next to, Cotch, Lids, Rance Jack etc when people discuss our top end talent.

Bit far, I think he benefits from the work put into the others by the opposition. To me it's part of becoming a good side, when your next tier of talent begin to look top end.

I'd love to know who has been a fan of titch from the get-go... Every Richmond fan I know bar one just couldn't understand why he was in the side, even myself. Now, I see his value. Has been an improvement every year and good to see him play with the confidence of his teammates and coaches.

Gun. Even though the lions were crappy, you could tell how much of a difference he made in the packs, gets us into space so often.

Me for one. I have always felt he has had the talent. It just seems to vary fairly broadly as to when a player matures & can start to deliver for a team consistently...If there was some way to work it out someone would make a bajillion $$$ 's ....

Ive been in his cnr from the get go.

A year ago I thought Shedwards was a very good, but not excellent player. His JD Medal results showed the club agreed.

Jack Dyer Medal - Shane Edwards.
2013
- not in top 10. 2012 - 8th. 2011 - not in top 10. He only kicked 11 goals for the 2013 season and had a career average of 0.6 goals per game.

But last year he really jumped up. 22 goals, 4th in JDM, critical to our contested gets and clearances. CP machine. (And btw, 0 Brownlow votes).
He's entering the zone where the opp need to say "what's our plan for Shane Edwards?"

This is why I'm optimistic about RFC. We are developing into a team where the opp has to plan for too many players.
It's not "just shutdown/tag Cotchin-Lids-Martin, Richmond lose".

Now the opp needs plans/tags to cover the Big 3, plus Edwards, Miles, Ellis, Rance, Jack, etc, plus our good defence, Griffo bombs, and more.
Still a few gaps, but it's on the right track.

What is this???

Edwards is our link man sets up so many of our plays and goal assists...i love him in the centre is almost certainly our best clearance player and his handballs are the best in the business i reckon.... He is an absolute Jet ...an A Grader ...Edwards and Rance are our most important players to our side...if they dont play our teams feel there absence more than any other players...

You didn't go back far enough. Wiki: "Edwards had his break-out season in 2010, playing all 22 of the Tigers' matches, finishing sixth (narrowly missing out on a top five finish) in the 2010 Jack Dyer Medal and was awarded the Club’s Most Improved Player award."

He had a very good year in 2010. I remember it well. Most seem to have forgotten. I was a big fan then and now. Please note that throughout that 2010 season he was only 21 years old ,the same age as Nick Vlastuin and Kamdyn McIntosh are now. That might put things in perspective. Will they achieve a top 6 finish at the same age? We'll see.Three top 8 finishes in the JDM out of 5 seasons, including a top 6 finish at 21 years of age, supports the argument that he hasn't only just arrived, but has been a good contributor overall for the previous 5 years.

How do you not have his tap to Griffiths?

Couldn't find it on youtube (so I could make a gif out of it). :(

Wow it's a tough crowd tonight :p;)

Tell me about it TJ. Starting to realise what Grigg must feel. Tries his best for the team and benefit of others, even then, it's not good enough in the eyes of some. :p

I'm not sure if I was too young and naive when he started but i've always thought he was a good player, always surprised when people talk about how he used to cop it on here.

I reckon he's a jetttttttt

I would be on record defending him on here since 2009. He's always been prone to a howler, but the good outweighed the bad.

You could say that about any player.

I stand by my opinion, criminally underrated and the worst offenders are our own supporters. Not a dig at you personally mate.
