Selected ahead of:

  • Matt Crouch
  • Jake Kolodjashni
  • Tom Barrass
  • Allir Allir
  • James Sicily
  • Alex Pearce

and more. Would take any of them over him.
Especially that last spot :-D

Yeah, it's diabolical.

He's the cohort we can least afford to lose, but he's the type of player we can least afford keep.

Nothingness personified.

Worse than nothingness. He is a liability when the ball goes near him. His fumbles make Laz look like Neale.

Will go close to being the worst 200 game player in league history.
For nearly every 200 gamer we've had I can recall a game winning match/BOG performance. But not McDonald. He's an average footballer, probably got the most out of his ability. We aren't going to succeed if we want average players in positions that need a creative, game breaking player.

If I witnessed my highly paid boss doing the bare minimum and plodding along I'd be tempted to plod along too.
Yes, he puts his head over the ball, but what exactly has he improved in his 10 years at the club? To me he appears the same player as when he arrived at the club if not a regressed version.
And we wonder why we have a problem at Nmfc....

Clarko needs to get real and start making some hard calls- the first one is dropping the Captain.
First paragraph is literally the conundrum of my life ATM....

Imagine being Zane Duursma. You just pinpointed a brilliant handball through traffic into this guy's lap and he just drops it. I don't even know what he brings to the team. The skills aren't there. The athleticism is nonexistent. There's nothing between the ears. The place lost its soul while he was one of the leaders, so why is he trusted to be one of the leaders to help the club regain it? The faster he gets sent to the glue factory the better.

Truly. What game did he ever tear apart, or even do well in? He's a #8 draft pick who's been rotting away in a back pocket because of who his dad is. If he was Joe Blow, he'd have been on his arse years ago.

He’s still contracted to the end of 2026.

He has regressed every year, except 2020.

Diabolical.

Is he worth trying forward with the odd run in the middle?

I seem to recall him a playing this role in 2017 and was ok.

Our midfield and forward line a terrible anyway and we would lose nothing with him out of the backline, so could be worth a shot.

Something has to give here.

The ONLY play he has ever achieved par standard in his career was chasing Cyril, laying a glove on him and affected a kick for a behind whilst snapping his hamstring. Thats his highlights package right there. Superstar luke

He has hand on hips 5 minutes into the first quarter blowing out the big ones. He might be able to run 3k’ers but that doesn’t transition over to game day fitness. Every half decent midfielder would torch him.

I don’t want him anywhere near the forward line unless he is tagging. We already have issues with the quality of our inside 50’s, we don’t need him bombing it over the top of our forwards at every chance.

I don’t think he should be in the team at all just to clarify.

He wouldn’t be able to tag a colourbond fence panel on the sydenham line. He’s ****ing done, and so should the person who offered him the long term deal. Was it Scott Clayton?

Fair.

I’d honestly give him the job on Tom Stewart this week. If he fails then he can go back to the VFL forever.

Pretty sure it was Rawlings mate. Clayton I don’t think have been involved with contracts since being at the club. Could be wrong though.

Makes for bizarre and distressing reading. It did then tbh and jordan lewis was spot on.

Should have been 2yrs with an option after the bnf.
Then year by year - by now should be on rookie list or delisted. Instead we have years to go.
Players who can star in 30s need to be elite size/athletically or highly skilled or super smart. He is none of these. The decline started years ago - he plays like that. Panicky disposal, losing his feet, knocked off ball, taking tackles, not bending, gassed easily.. sound familar??
This was a list killing decision. It has huge effect on other players, morale and perception of other teams. Imagine running out to play against us and seeing key members of our “leadership” group - see also Corr - serving that up surrounded by some kids busting their a//:$.
Just had a triggering flashback of lmac being run down in the pocket last year ..

Just because a player has been signed up for far longer than he should have is no reason to keep him in the team. It's really the AFL's money that we've squandered that could have been better used by us to either get another player or spread around to our more better performers. Just send LMAC and Stephenson and CCJ to see out their contracts in the VFL and give more deserving players a go at the top level.
