I think the issue is that his turnovers are usually scrubber type kicks when he's in space which are a bit deflating and they definitely catch the eye.

Watching his possession highlights on the AFL app there are some 'turnovers' that were just decent kicks to a contest but also some scrubbers not recorded as turnovers in the stats.

The vast majority of his disposals were effective though and were better than the blind dump kicks dished up by Powell and Phillips all night.

I want him at the coalface giving hands to LDU tbh.
Bold is 100% accurate. Unfortunately he is most susceptible heading into space / kicking to a leading player so it really stands out. It's weird because on the run kicking for goal he's actually pretty reliable. Obviously a bit of a technique thing where he is prone to shinning / off the side when trying to finesse the kick. One of the reasons I'd prefer he run to <45m if it is on and ping the goals.

I figured it was 3 more than last year. Make no mistake. It’s purely reflective of my own personal thoughts and expectations on him. That should say enough.

It was his first 30-possession game since round 22 in 2022. Throw in 7 tackles, a goal, a goal assist, and 7 score involvements, he had a pretty solid game. If he was our biggest issue we'd be travelling alright.

I feel like he is getting back to his best. I get it that he is not Bailey Dale with his kicking, but I trust he is working his guts out to clean it up. I don't have the same confidence that Zurhaar works as hard on his deficiencies.

I gave my thoughts on Jy and his game yesterday, noting he just needed to score that goal. It’s those moments as captain we want and need him to just slot to give himself, the team and supporters the confidence in jim. A great opportunity gone leading to the initial pile on we had to claw back from.

Zuurhar, LDU and Jy from what I’ve seen haven’t cleaned up there weaknesses or even look to have. IMO

Oh thats it. Cant hold off any longer. If he could hit a ****ing target by foot, we could have won the game. He had 5 turnovers which ALL resulted in dogs going inside 50 and scoring he also ran at 60% DE, there was only one player worse with disposal efficiency and that was Jack Darling. Im ****in over this bloke, he can find it but he is an absolute liability with the ball in his hand, it costs us, hurts momentum, its really head dropping stuff. FFS. It happens ALL the time.

Imagine for one moment the Captain coming up to you after you make a mistake.. you’d deadset laugh at the campaigner. No good

Geebus DY I have 37 posters on ignore, most are the unpaid draft experts fyi. Don't make me add you, i only see 5 threads currently on the main page.

Jy will be fine mate.

In a game where we lost by 16 points, the coach himself said we got jumped early and couldn’t bridge the gap.

He had the opportunity to set the tone as captain and failed to take the chance.

That has been the familiar narrative of Jy’s captaincy.
The team either succeeds or fails under his leadership. He needs to be apart of the cultural change into us becoming winners otherwise we’re never gonna get anywhere.

Our expectations are that excuses are running out. It’s time to deliver.

Who knows how the game might have gone had he kicked that early one on the run. It was crushing seeing him flub that. Mindset and belief is everything.

He cares and he is a subservient type of leader. He has developed into a bit of a spiritual leader within the group. Perhaps an introvert who is an extrovert within his tribe.

His game on the weekend shows he will always lean towards bringing his teammates into the game rather than one who actively look for moments where they can stamp their authority.

Whether that’s the right style of leadership that will take us to the promise land who knows. He may develop a harder edge as time goes on. He’s a smart guy.

Ferball’s breakdown of those plays was generally how I felt watching it. I didn’t see that his turnovers was a glaring issue although he absolutely needs to decisively go for goal clean on the run. Not pass it off.

Overall I liked his game and feel he is going to build into the season nicely as long as he stays injury free.

His kicking last week turned an A+ game into a C+ game.

Didn't torch it yesterday, so remained an A grade game.

Only 20% of center bounce and is going this as a +1 midfielder from half forward.

Massive, massive start the year.

If he can just sort out these running floaters, he will be an absolute force in that role.
