I don't think we will risk Dempsey and nor would I want too...

Season is a marathon, not a sprint, no need to risk further injury by rushing him back.. either we have the depth to cover him like a Good side should.. or we don't..

IF we are to go deep in 2014.. we need guys like Dempsey fit and firing come August.. not worrying about March..

If we are to go deep into 2014, we need to win games, which means we need to worry about March. If he is fit, he should play, because he is important.

Uh huh. My guess is that he isn't fully fit, and that is why they want to put him through a 'mini pre-season' before they play him.

Yeah, I agree. He might not be fully fit. I just disagree with your sentiment of not worrying about March.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to not worry about March.. I was just meaning that, personally, I don't think you risk a valuable asset like Dempsey in Rnd 1.. potentially if it means he is more prone to injury OR if it means he 'struggles' for the entire first half of the season due to lack of fitness etc etc.. ei, play Rnd 1 but then miss 5 weeks.. then 3 weeks to get back to fitness and suddenly you are at the bye.. whereas if you wait an extra 2-3 weeks.. he comes in Rnd 4 and doesn't miss a beat for the rest of the season.

I was more suggesting that Dempsey is one player we absolutely need to be firing in our Finals campaign.. meaning that he needs to be 100% right before I'd risk him.

*I would also show our 'early season' form of the last two years and how little it counted in the end... most clubs now accept it is a long long season.. and the primary goal is a) qualify for the dance and b) peak at the right time. So yes, wins are important at any time.. but so is making sure your list and players are primed at the right end of the season....

Saw that too. Thought Dunstall would at least say "I think that should be Dempsey" but then he went and said dempster haha
I'd have been like "Thanks Jason Dunstan".

15. Courtenay Dempsey - Much like Winderlich, was quiet early but worked his way into the game. Finished with two goals at the end of the match, before walking off the ground and straight into the gym to get medical attention. Emerged with ice applied to his left hamstring, however Skippy said that he has pulled up OK, but is no certainty to take on Carlton next week and may spend another week in the VFL to build match fitness.

Just precautionary from the sounds of it.. I hope.
