Does not have the endurance or speed to play on the wing. Should be playing as a high half forward for us at the moment.Despite him going missing for a few periods of the game he still did some pretty clever stuff. Maybe we can slot him onto a wing for a bit.
yeah id love for him to arch the back more oftenJogs most game lacks intensity
There are times he could perk up a bityeah id love for him to arch the back more often

Agree. There are times Perko looks a bit lost with positioning and it can make him look slow, but when he has the ball and needs to go he can scoot. Needs better stoppage craft as well. Jacobs has done some good work with him so far though. No doubt we'll seem him shine again soon, probably when we play Hawthorn. He came in as a pretty solid endurance runner, not elite, but certainly not poor.
Seems to have become a bit of a meme that he's a bad runner rather than a decent runner who's running to the wrong spots. Cox is a genuinely elite runner and does exactly the same thing, though he's improving.

Yeah I can definitely see that. If he's going to play stoppages though, he does need to develop a stronger sense of where his opponent is. I don't mind if he doesn't take possession - a bonus if he does - he does need to ensure it's a contest though. He was a ball watcher against Rowell on the weekend. If he's not checking his opponent and keeping body on body he needs to straight line the ball before his opponent does. He can do it, but Jacobs has more work to do with him yet.I'm not sure he has that 360 awareness the good midfielders have, you can already see Tsatas has that awareness, Parish always had it too despite needing to work on his running patterns.
I think Perkins is more a straight-line player - like a Stringer. He moves the game forward when he has the ball and has strength to hold his feet in tackles. He can sometimes do a role at centre bounces as ant has said, due to working off the position of an opposition player, but sometimes it doesn't work at all e.g. Rowell just running off him.
I'd say at this stage he's probably a HFF kind of guy who can be damaging from a stoppage more than he is a pure midfielder.

In any case, I'd rather he were a forward mid pinch-hitting in the rotation.
I'd be happy to see both brought in. We looked shallow through the middle against GC.I think we need to bring in a pure midfielder (e.g. Shiel or Setterfield) and let Perkins play off a HFF.
Would we have been better getting him to play stopper on Rowell once he started getting loose? Archie probably has the strength to limit the number and quality of those possessions.Yeah I can definitely see that. Ive been really baffled by the lack of a tag last few weeks. It worked so well against the dogs and giants.Would we have been better getting him to play stopper on Rowell once he started getting loose? Archie probably has the strength to limit the number and quality of those possessions.
