Gold Coast were reported to be opening with 12 & 20 as a FIRST offer. We will take pick 6 for him.

Could also see them offering future 1st and 12 but reckon we’re set for 6 in this draft

Bottom line is if GC want him its on our terms, its gonna be overs we cant cave for 12 & 20.

This is exactly why we need to draft youth and let older players with draft value go. Rioli is the perfect trade bait. Just milk GC now.

We can afford to pay part of his salary for 2 years (and Bolton's). Who else will we be paying if Rioli and Bolton leave?
 
Dimma will sell the farm to try and win another flag , but if their list managers let him do their job he will run their list to the ground. He's doing the same shit he did in 22 with TT and Hopper and it's going to backfire. He thinks his list is close to a flag again and the reality is we were one KPF and a mid from rolling them on Saturday. They have a team full of receivers and show ponies apart from Rowell and Miller. Dan will be another addition to his equine stud of Benchmark 80 runners. They're nowhere near a flag and if we draft properly we will be better off than them this time next year. It may not show in the ladder position, but it will as a potential premiership list.

I would be happy to pay $500k x 3 years of his salary if its for #6 + #14 but not for just pick #6 on its own

Bolton #9 + #10 and if they want $500k x 3 years then #17 must be included

Baker +#10 for pick #3 This pick could be a real option due to the eagles wanting a player like Bo Allan

Agree. Dimma is trying to take short cuts by recruiting experienced players just like TT and hopper. He isn't interested in top picks or developing young players. Let's see if the suns agree to give away top picks.

That’s not really how the salary cap would work

We would of taken into account Dusty either retiring, leaving or taking a substantial pay cut after this year and weighted others players contracts to use that windfall

Bolton and Rioli wanting trades mid contract would have a much bigger impact on our available salary cap than Dusty retiring

Absolutely right, there is no grand principle to stand on here. We are giving up a lot, but we are also asking a lot. If we can afford it, if it means getting the deal over the line and if we get the picks we'd like, it's not even a question that needs to be asked.

Suns need to make finals. Under Dimma, the current list improved from 16th to 13th. Won 2 more games than 2023. Rioli sprints well off half back and uses the footy well.
To make a bid for an ex player was always on the cards. Yze and Caracella have knowledge of players they might recommend.
RFC haven't been able to see the full value of Hopper, as he's too injured as has Tom Lynch.
Adding 2 players Hopper and Taranto into a 22 that had Prestia, Graham, Cotchin, Martin stuffed the fwd mix cos. Martin was the only one good in front of goal.
We're 18th and we need to rebuild.
Suns want to pay full price for our likely B &F , a contracted player? 2 1sts for Rioli & a late pick that will not stuff up Brisbane's and Ashcroft.
