I am 1 of those 1000 people from evandale
he lived over my back fence once apon a time
Did he ever pelt your house with eggs?

1) Grima is a solid young fella, who given a chance to get on the field, will hold the gorillas off nicely.

2) His brother Todd (HFF)played with Central Districts this year.

3) Other brother Alex (Wing) was rookied at Hawthorn this year.

4) we would be mad not to push to keep him- we are desperate for backs, and minus a knee injury he would have probably played instead of S Thompson in later rounds.

If, like me, you are itching to see Spud loose in the backline, you should start praying this lad has a good pre-season.

He was the rookie I was most excited about by a long way. I don't see a big future for the others unfortunately. I hope he shows signs next year, as he is probably another year away again from playing at his best if history has shown us anything with these knees injuries.

You have to have never been on a senior list before to become a mature aged rookie don't you? So perhaps the difference with Smith and Grima is that Smith had his chance and even played a senior game for Collingwood while Grima never even got a chance to be on a rookie list because of his injury.

Smith never played AFL footy (there was another who played for Claremont, Richmond and Collingwood I think), but he was on West Coast's senior list when he did his knee (twice). I think they wanted to rookie him after delisting the same way Essendon did with Rama, citing special circumstances.

Kicked another ton in the WAFL too, even after two knee recos, which is a fair effort.

Todd's starring for Glenelg in the SANFL this season. Was going to go to the Dogs where Nathan was last year, but Glenelg were willing to pay him more.

Todd would definitely be worth a look at at least as a rookie.

Being biased as always, Nathan was a fantastic full back for us (Centrals) in 2007 and is a quality guy. I'd love to see him get a chance to stay on, I think he's definitely worth the chance.

End of the day, he's the one bloke on the list who has a proper grounding as a full back. Even if we couldn't re-rookie him, I'd probably promote him on this basis anyway. It's the hardest position to fill with youth, and he has senior experience.

On the last Kangas Corner, Petrie gave Grima a big boost up, said he hoped we kept him and reckoned he could be the full back we need.
Said he was very impressive at training before the injury, agile and strong.

Not even Cooney, and he won a brownlow.

Going to be a race between him and Wundke to see who could cure cancer first.

Silly buggers should give up that fool's errand... the Hunter casually cured cancer in his down time from achieving cold fusion.

You're forgetting that Vlad is the Great Negotiator.

Why, it was him (and him only) that secured that $780 million TV rights deal, which led to the doubling of his salary to $1.4 mil. After all, with his Great Negotiation skills, other leagues were banging down AFL House doors to get to him - just ask Chairman Fitzpatrick.

The danger of course being that Vlad might be poached by the NBL and the $780 million will go straight to basketball.

Now it's only time to show us what we believe he has. Hopefully Nathan takes this opportunity by the scruff the neck and gets into our side for ever as our FB.

Yes - happy to see him get a year. He has his chance now so lets see what he's got. Would have been cruel (but understandable) to see him flung off the back of a serious injury. Go for it Nathan!

Given that the competion will need to find an extra 50 players in a couple of years, I think it would be in their best interests to relax the rookie listing rules somewhat.

These players aren't going to come from the draft. We need to be finding ways to get players into the system not keeping them out ala Pods at Richmond, Brad Smith at WC.

Hopefully some of the more mature developers from the state leagues get a chance. In NRL it is quite common for blokes in their mid 20's to make their debut.

I hope the news is true. Otherwise, surely it's worth giving him a 1 year senior contract if we can't mature age rookie list him. As Thewlis Dish has said, he's the one of the few with proper FB experience. At 23 he'll be more ready for that position than any 17/18 year old FB that we may get through the draft.

Afterall, if we've taken players like Ben Davies for pick 92 or whatever, and Mark Powell no-shows, surely someone who's already good enough to be recruited by the club is worth a 1 year contract.

spoke to nathans father 2 weeks ago at as he is my old footy coach...asked how was he going...said he was very hopeful of being kept on...how im not sure of???

Re: 18. Nathan Grima

Apparently is fully recovered and is the fastest bloke at the club in the 3m time trial.
3km mate i think you mean, and yes you would be right, i remember in a thread about a month ago i was trying to convince some posters on here that he is the quickest in our 3km time trials, smashes out the princess park run ( i think thats the 3.2km run?) multiple times a week in his own time
