Yep, we would of won if Hurley was playing on Anzac Day.

As much as Hurley would have made the difference, they also had a number of players out. Would love to have seen Anzac day with both sides going in full strength. That would have been the best gauge on where we are.

Re: #18: Michael Hurley - Importance evident in absence

Wont play this weekend according to Hirdy on SEN this morning, although Crameri a good chance

Re: #18: Michael Hurley - Won't play this week

The way we played against West Coast will be perfect for Hurley.
We got the ball into our 50 so fast, so he can run at the ball instead of just wrestle.

Re: #18: Michael Hurley - He's BacK!!

Not many teams have the forward line luxury of having 3 guys like Ryder, Hurley and Crameri who are all quick on the lead and good left 1 out in a contested situation. Good luck defenses finding 3 guys to play on all 3 of them. For as long as Davey and Jetta keep up their current form and we continue getting these ridiculously high number of forward 50 entries, that's a winning formula.

Re: #18: Michael Hurley - Won't play this week

Welcome back Hurls! Really liked his game first up. He is an absolute animal. Loved his reaction when NLM ignored one of his leads in the second half. Just wants to get involved and you've gotta love him for it. Took some crucial marks and his field kicking is as good as any at the club.

Just one I've been pondering for a while now:

Games: 52
Goals: 55

Are you happy with his output in this department at this stage of his career? Obviously has played a number of games down back, and it's only really the last two years he has settled as a forward, but is it greedy to want more out of him on the scoreboard?

I have no doubt he'll start hitting the scoreboard more and more. He plays very high at times and delivers the ball and sets up scoring opportunities.

If there's one criticism I have of the big fella is that HE is the man, HE needs to kick the goals. The guy is just too damn team-oriented and passes off far to often for a guy who can kick a ball like him.

Case in point, in the second quarter of the Richmond game. He marked on about a 60 degree angle, 30 metres out. Not a gimme shot, but I would have backed him to kick it more often than not. Instead he takes the team option, spotting up Bellchambers free dead in front 40 out. Belly (usually a reliable set shot) misses.

Not a hanging crime, far from it, but Hurls YOU are the man. Go back and have a shot.

Yup, very frustrating to watch. It's an uncharacteristically timid part of his game. Generous, yes, but there's also a degree of seniority that has to come both we being the key forward and being a part of the "leadership group" thingo.
