But you have to think the way of the journo's, why **** up a good story with the truth.I'm friends with a couple of players who were drafted in the same year as Hurley, and whilst I don't know him personally, a number of different people (players, parents and coaches) have often commented on how he's a terrific bloke, always seems to have his head screwed on, etc and this whole ordeal is a real shock and goes against everything that people have said about him so far. I've go no idea as to what actually happened, but sometimes decent people make some pretty big mistakes (particularly when alcohol is involved) and whilst I'm embarrassed for him and pissed off that one of our players has been involved in a situation like this, I think it'd be wise not to make too many assumptions and completely rip into the kid.
Ah yes, I forgot about that! But you have to think the way of the journo's, why **** up a good story with the truth.
Normal people do all sorts of stupid things when they are too intoxicated to make proper choices.
Lacking mental capacity from drinking can be used as a legal excuse for certain offences, even homicide.
if it is true, it will be interesting to see how essendon handle the situation, compared to carlton with fevola.
Yeah, obviously you would want that qualification so people are responsible for their actions when they drink. But it's still the same point, the law recognises that people lack a certain mental capacity when intoxicated.Per Section 9AJ of the Crimes Act, only if the intoxication was not self induced.
I'm sick to death of drunken violence in this city, and I'm not going to defend anyone even if they play for the Essendon Football Club. If it was a serious assault he should be suspended from the club for a lengthy period and made to earn his place back in the side.
Hurley also got kicked out of Ivanhoe Grammar for breaking a fellow students jaw. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
Essendon will compensate the alleged victim as all clubs do throughout the year. This is not unusual by any means...
He was also a school house captain last year at his college, cant be to bad a student...
It was b/c he was the Football captain & was at a much poorer, reputation wise, school than Ivanhoe Grammar.
I have to LOL at this
sack him, disgraceful club ... insert any comment from essendon flog about fev here

Might rise to become a captain in the Big House with this form
Well believe that if you want....
but you have no idea whatsoever.
Nobody does. Why would a cabbie be touching Hurley on the shoulder?
Believe that if you want...
I'm not saying it's the cabbie's fault, however, I hardly believe that he just stood there and said "Can I please have my fare". I think it's odds on that the cabbie has at the very least touched him on the shoulder to get his attention.
