My instinct says that we don't chase this down, but the weather forecast (not necessarily reliable for Birmingham) may render the point moot. The morning looks like being as wet as anything.

Great effort from Broad at the death. Hats off.

I hope you're right. A wet outfield could screw the ball up. Until they ask to get it changed, of course.
I mean the forecast could be wrong but it's "Heavy rain changing to sunny intervals in the afternoon." for now. So yes bits of cloud, rain and sun but not just two sessions of overcast unless we're extremely unlucky.

Anderson needs to step up, he bowled like a 40 year old veteran today.
Perhaps this afternoon was a temporary blip but something was certainly off kilter about him. Robinson looked lively enough but consistently dangerous like Broad? Not really. And then there's Mo.

Broad needs 3 or 4 more important wickets tomorrow, probably, for England to win. Wouldn't put it past him.

Looks like the chase won't even be on, then.

I don't see how we get enough play in.

Tomorrow will have clouds and humidity. Maybe some rain..
Its not going to be a day of glorious sunshine where batting is a stroll . Maybe there wont be enough time to force a result.

I can remember 2009 at Edgbaston. The first two sessions of the first day were lost to rain. When play started, it was sunny but the ball did nothing. Watson, Katich and Ponting crashed a lot of runs.

Looking at some of the reports, it could take a couple of hours to dry given how heavy it will be for several hours in the morning.
