No one would have given us a hope if you said before the test that Smith and Labuschagne scored 35 runs between them

Ussie brilliant stuff. The bazball pitch doctoring really backfired in that regard given his previous record in England when the pitches had some life in them

I know it's harsh but that one was catchable. More than the Labs and Smith ones. Root got 1 out of 3 (all difficult). Bairstow missed a few gettable stumpings/catches. In such a tight match it was arguably fielding that made the difference (given how good Carey was).

Cummins can block out a Root over; nope, he goes BANG. Twice. The next over Stokes drops a catchable pull and from that point on we believe we can win it.

Yep. Had their noses in front a fair amount of the match, credit where due. But I feel we underperformed. Really should have got 500 first innings on that pitch. I feel we have more improvement in us than they do and possibly by a fair margin.

For a while there cricwiz had us high 60% plus to win the match when we were 5 for 330 odd
