Reserve, behind Clokey.

I know Scotty's in love with the boy, but Corey Jones will be be of the best kept secrets next season. Unless there are more threads made like this that is.

When Corey Who? has established himself as a regular player in a top 4 side, maybe then you can compare him to Clokey.

In my experience, rarely do any of the ultra-hyped up (by their supporters) youngsters fulfill the wet dreams of their amateur spin doctors. I see little or no reason to expect that this kid will be any different.

Come back and sprout when he has achieved something.

Ho ho, someone's touchy for a thread that's semi-serious. I like Cloke (I really do) as a defender, and it's true he's an established player in your side. However I have no doubts whatsoever that Jones would be in your starting 22 as well, and your last two comments just underline why I said he's one of the best kept secrets in the league.

Now let's stop our bickering and have some pie, shall we?

<scratching my head and trying to figure out what the Cloke's have achieved other than crying on Eddie's TV show>????

Hmm...here are the stats of 1 J Cloke from the 2003 finals series:

Season
AFL 2003 Premiership Season Finals

Round Date vs. K H P M HO T FF FA G B
QUALIFYING FINALS 06/09/2003 Brisbane Lions 7 3 10 8 1 3 1 1 0 1
PRELIMINARY FINALS 20/09/2003 Port Adelaide 4 3 7 4 3 3 2 1 0 0
GRAND FINAL 27/09/2003 Brisbane Lions 1 3 4 1 3 0 1 1 0 0

FACT FILE
Brownlow Medal
2002 votes - 4
career votes - 4

AFL record
2002: Collingwood - 23 games, 2 goals

Outstanding young fella a true over achiever and ornament to the game:rolleyes:

Not saying Jones is a superstar, but barring an injury free year he should have a big season. Zeke - Jones has achieved everything that the Clokes have to date. Premierships - 0, Club B&F's - 0, Leading goal kicker awards - 0, Rising Star - 0, Brownlows - 0.

For the record, Jones in 2003:

Played 22 games. 226 kicks, 63 handballs, 106 marks & 27 goals

Jason Cloke has played successive final series, and experienced a Grand Final. Jason Cloke will retire with much more finals games than Corey Jones (unless he is traded). Ask the two players what they would prefer and I think you'll find that finals are what is desired.

Did Jones play in round 1,2,3,4 this year?

Jones would rather stay at the roos and play with mates and spirit then go to collingwood to play with **** and play finals!

That remains to be seen. Its pointless comparing a player like Jones to Cloke.

Cloke experienced a Grand Final.

Might as well stood in the bar with me.

When he is not giving the 'Spare man in defence' role he is not nearly as effective. Its taken a while but sides are working him out.

Yes, he has played more finals. The GF appearance is merely a rumour.

Take a stab in the dark why don't you.

What a wonderful insight.

They are both going into their 4th years, and so far, Jones has it over Cloke in terms of performance IMO. I reckon he is far more versatile and has a far bigger upside.

But then again, he doesn't play for Collingwood, is not known outside of North and doesn't get any media attention.

As I understand it, you are suggesting that no players at Collingwood are friends, and that there are a majority of homosexuals on the list. Is this right?

If so, perhaps you could put it in writing and sign it.

Fair call - (I missed that post). Have since deleted my previous snipe @ the freelancer.

Pretty rich coming from a poies fan

At least Jones plays on someone each week....playing loose man in defence is the easiest gig in football.

i remember when i watched Kangas games on the TV i thought Jones was a very good player. I thought to myself i must be seeing something that others weren't cos he was hardly mentioed in the media. Jones will be a gun. As for Cloke he may or may not be good but in the 03 GF when Cole was playing Cloke's sweeping role he totally sucked at it, so maybe he is a good player.

Well personally, I'm more worried about Corey's brother Brett ;) - but hey I saw Corey a few times last year and he looks a definate player - AA next year (or at least Aussie rep), I don't know about that, but he looks like a solid campaigner for sure - maybe more but who knows at this point.
