whoops i thought he sed whinger not winger, soz lol

ducktown for jnstone

ps: Whiting = smokey,

Someone said he was 6"2 as well, i thought he was key position, must be in the build of gibbs, embley etc...

thanks for ur input straylan u just proved ur lack of intellect with that random, unfunny comment u just made.

I heard Whiting was a weed; what, around 5'11 and 66kg? Hardly a key position player if u ask me, anyone care to enlighten me with his actual details this is becoming a mess :/

jnsn dont come on these forums and tell me i lack interlect. You see jnsn, there is a hierachy on these boards, and yes, just as in real life, you are at the bottom. You are the only one who can be proud enough to say they went ducktown with their first 7 posts on this site. And by the way, those stats you gave in the last post...look in the mirror mate, because im pretty sure they're yours!

Whitings real stats (i asked a scout this morning), are 182cm, 78kg. Fairly solid build for a school footballer. Electrifying pace allows him to burn his opponents up (not his team-mates jnsn ;) ) Needs a solid pre season to build his stamina up although, the news from some high ranking officials is that he needs to work on his kicking style and straighten it up

very true his kicking does often let him down, sometimes thinks he's kicking a rugby ball and totally muffs it but with some teaching could become a dal santo type obviously no where near as good but thats a start
sts year 10s coming up ... Alex kinal big gun forward strong lad probably best player for 10s and Daniel Bolton very strong backman and good speed, will loose some weight over preseason and tone up a bit

Alex Kinal will definately play a large role in whether sts are going to be really competitive or not next year. If he is able to step it up next year, sts will be very hard to beat. On that note, he has had mixed results this year when playing in the u/17s sturt team as a junior at the age of 15 (he played this years smart play) but his future is definately bright and if he continues to develop he could surely be picked up in the future

He bagged 7 goals for the year 10A intercol

7 goals in a team that won by 20 something goals...

Although he is definately one of saint's two prospects for state 16s next year.

The other player is Ben Marwe, who started this season as the only year 10 playing firsts. He is a very classy north adelaide boy with silky skills and plenty of hardness at the ball. Will hold down a wing next year and will contribute valueably to the team just as this years wingers were did as they were often underestimated by opposition. He unfortunately was concussed in a game earlier this year and was subsequently dropped for the fact that his body wasnt quite big enough this year.

another name being branded around saints is nick montarello. This fiery little terrier is highly-rated down here and it has leaked out that he will be the starting rover for the sts 2006 midfield. Havnt seen much of him this yr, welcoming any opinions from blokes that know him well. is he to be feared by opposition midfields nxt yr or just another flash in the pan?

that number 30 for sts is a total weed, 177cm,66kg. he is also a massive hog and whenever he gets the ball he looks straight at the goals and never passes. he could not cope with the physical side of things in 1sts, which was the fundamental reason why he couldnt hold a spot up there. he is a good 2nds player but will probably never cut it in the 1sts comp. apparently 1sts coach told him if he wants to play next yr he has to have a big pre-season in the gym.

If i remember rightly 30 for sts played evry game from halfway thru scnd term to intercol, so i don't know wat u mean by not being able to hold a spot. He wasnt in team because of fallings out with the coach. It is true he has been told numerous times to get bigger. A hog? Physical Side? Someone else who doesnt like the physical stuff is that Tim Davey, a typical run & receive player who is always found at the back of the pack. Probably the reason why he fits in so well at Norwood.

#30 is definately a quality player, although quite slight he has impressive skills and showed that he has the ability to read the ball well. His main flaw is like what colin custard commented on, he is a big U-turn offender. Sort of a ricardi quality, if he is within the 50m arc, u wouldnt ever expect to see him pass

what the hell?????

Why is everyone mentioning me?? im Matthew Mylrea and i go to gleeson. i dont think im a draft smokey. who the hell said that?? im only year 10.

our gleeson team is pretty good tho.

skipper brett sparnon is a gun player, his kicking can be a little suspect but he has everything else. obviously john cheetam is good. pete mclean is our full forward and he can take a great grab, but i dont think he is big enough. obushak is a gun. but i think he would be too old now, but he will probably make the grade in SANFL and will be a good player. thats really all our stars, we have a couple of other decent footballers as well, so we are a pretty good footy school. in the future years, we will probably be in the 1st division, as our year 10 side this year, went through the year undefeated.

Now, that guy that said i can hit guys 50 metres away, hmm i not so sure, i dont think i can even kick 50 metres!! BTW a warrior named lica, you were talking bout the twilight cup, there is no way u were a better team than us and had 3 of the best players. your team was sh1t, thats why we beat you in the final. how much were we up again by, was it 9 goals after 20 mins?? pedare only had 1 player, James Skinner and he did nothing that day, so gleeson is clearly better.

BTW guys, thanks for the raps!!

Mate as has been said before by colin custard u shouldnt even consider putting up a post in here talking up ur pathetic lil skool until u can match it with the big boys. Don't even think u can say u hav a gd footy skool u play seconds and thirds teams! Apparently u flogd sts 3rds then ur players went off bragging about how gd u guys r. We would luv to see u in the 1st div so u can see wat standard u hav to achieve to be classed as 'a gd football skool'

another ducktown call there joinstone, tim davey made the reserves side at norwood after only needing about 3 games in 19's to prove he could carve up and kick bags as a small forward/ midfielder. Any player still in yr 12 who makes it at resis level is obviously a gun

yes im not sure that he could play in sts midfield. A bit small much like johnson...won't be able to meet physical needs of a ctr player, sts have to many good onballers to put him in there however i dont know where else he would play... not versatile enough for me, although had a run on ball this year and did alright vs st mics

shooter i am not doubting for one second that davey isnt a gun i was just poking a bit of fun at the way norwood are known around the league for their style of play. About Montarello, would you put him on a forward or back flank if he can't fit into onball brigade?

probably forward flank or wing as hes more of a skills player than a grunt player, although his courage to put his body on the line is undoubted.
Botten should be getting the centre role next year after playing all games in the 1sts in 05 (on half back and wing) and playing it all through lower years where he dominated... very good sweeper and break away player, reminds me of a right footed luke hodge the way he plays

yeah Botten should go centre. good skills, hard working, and reads the ball very well. Other onballers should include Christie and White swapping off a backflank, Whiting and either Johnson or Montarello (preferably Johnson) swapping of a forwardflank.
For the Nick Montarello case, i think he lacks the commitment, speed and doesn't get enough of the ball to go into the pivot. nevertheless still a solid player who is steadily developing into quite the small forward... looking forward to seeing him play in 2006.
What are the sts guys views on him?

Nick Monterello?!? that guy plays 1sts? I saw him play a seconds game at the start of the year, not very impressive, slow, weak, small kick... very surprised he made sts 1sts being the force they were this year

There is no doubt that Christie will play centre for saints next year. Botten will play an on-ball role. I say this as i no the coaches style and he likes a hard in and under player for his centreman (eg thomas, christie, maybe even montarello) Botten will swap off half back with White, maybe even a forward role for those two (leading full forward maybe)

As for #30, dont even get me started. I could write a whole essay on this boy. Very lazy with his work rate. Kick to handle ratio is infinite because i have never seen him handball ever. Very small frame, even nicknamed pinner or little biatch by some players. He obviously knows a fair bit about it his fellow mount gambiens holmes, its just too bad he wont be able to fill up those boots.

As for Tim Davey, biggest improver of the year for sure. Comes from no where to playing ressies just like that. (although they are Norwood ressies ;) ) Absolute gun, anyone that critisizes him obviously has no football smarts about them. Played in the gun ball movement team of rostrevr this season and is one of those dream firs give players that #30 will just never be

He was a fringe player in the 1sts. Although he was not too impressive in the 2nds level he surprisinly showed some good signs early in the season coming off the bench to kick a few on a number of occasions before his season ended with a bad groin injury

Well I am telling you, Mr Arrogant, that THEY will be a first school and your typical arrogance will be rammed down your throat. I remember when you guys used to say the same thing about Trinity - now they smack you around. Gleeson will be a GUN team, and I think we (pedare) will be good also - albeit we are lacking depth.

No one said that this board was for ONLy arrogant prix like you.

Just because you play first 18's doesnt mean that you have all the great players. Jon Cheetham, who plays for Gleeson, will be taken by an AFL club and is listed in the 'footydraft' on this site at pick 40.

Are you listed? Maybe you should shut up if you areent as good as him?

get over yourself you arrogant terd

it is a fair call about johnson being arrogant, but ur argument goes down hill when u claim that trinity smacks us around. Get ur facts straight, sts beat trinity on their home ground by over 20 goals, thats hardly them being even competitive, let alone smacking us around.
