I don't really like the fact that we only get 2 friday games and so many sunday games when are they going to give us a break

VENUES:
MCG: 2 HOME, 0 AWAY
Telstra Dome: 6 HOME, 5 AWAY
MANUKA OVAL: 3 HOME, 0 AWAY
Skilled: 0 HOME, 1 AWAY
GABBA: 0 HOME, 1 AWAY
SCG: 0 HOME, 1 AWAY
AAMI: 0 HOME, 2 AWAY
SUBI: 0 HOME 1 AWAY

2 HOME Friday Night Matches. 1 vs Collingwood (MCG). 1 vs West Coast (TD).

Overall pretty harsh IMO, with 11 matches on Sundays. (4 Home, 7 Away)

Interesting to see how many we pull in forthe North v West Coast match.
If we really are going to keep some friday games, we NEED to be out inforce for that game.. National TV, WCE have about 50 fans in Melbourne. 25K MINUMUM!!!

Whilst harsh, it is AWESOME that they are coming twice in the same year again! firs ttime in about 3 years that they play 2 games at aami stadium, so im happy about that.

2 weeks in a row though.. thats odd. But i guess its no different than playing in sydney one week, then adelaide the next...

Did anyone think we have an oddly large number of home games in the first 10 games of the season?

Disappointing for marketing, I guess, but we won't know the full impact until we see how many day games we get on free to air. Have to say that as an older supporter with a young child I am rapt to have day games rather than night, though - so much easier to get to.

AAMI double-header must be a rarity - don't know another time a team has been scheduled for two interstate games at the same venue? Not nice.

What's this about v St Kilda in the "rivalry round" - surely our big rivals would be Hawks or Essendon or maybe Geelong? I've never thought about the Saints in that light, and now we get them in the special rivalry and heritage rounds?

Hmmmmm.................have we ever played the same number of games in a season at the MCG (2) as we have at AAMI (2) over a whole year?

11 Telstra Dome games to go with the two at "the 'G", so 13 in Melbourne.

3 Friday Night games.

5 non Canberra interstate games.

3 in Canberra.

I need this all to sink in before having an opinion I think. Two weeks running at AAMI eh? Our Adelaide Roos BF folk will be happy with that!

I can't tell if I'm thrilled that North play here 2 weeks in a row or am horrified that we have to travel like that in 2 weeks!

as i said above, whilst it is definitly odd, there are plenty of teams who travel to places like Sydney one week, and then Brisbane the next, or something similar to that. This will be no different in the travel fatigue side of things, just odd that its the same interstate venue 2 weeks in a row.

Also, whilst i admit it is unlikely, it does leave the Roos the option of staying in Adelaide for a week rather than travelling again, so as to combat travel fatigue.

Im happy with this fixture i reckon. Whilst we dont have so many friday night games, we do have quite a few saturday night games, which is better than nothing.

Also, starting and finishing the season against Carlton is great.

Observations:

* 4 of 1st 5 rounds are home games. Good for marketing and membership sales

* Box office winners for home games likely to be be round 1, round 4, round 12 & round 20.

* 11 Sunday games bad for corporate sponsorship
* 11 Sunday games - good for attracting families through the turnstiles (but not as lucrative as corporate dollars)

Here's from an off field financial point of view in terms of crowds for 2005. HOME GAMES:

Saturday 26th March
Kangaroos vs. Carlton at Telstra Dome: Should draw well, expect minimum of 42K.

ROUND 2
Saturday, 2nd April
Kangaroos vs. Sydney at Manuka Oval: Sell Out at Manuka, 14.5K

ROUND 4
Friday, 15th April
Kangaroos vs. Collingwood at M.C.G. (Night): Our One huge chance! Hopefully 50K+

ROUND 5 (Anzac Day)
Saturday, 23rd April
Kangaroos vs. Hawthorn at M.C.G. Generally Draw well, when playing well. Around 35K

ROUND 8
Saturday, 14th May
Kangaroos vs. Western Bulldogs at Telstra Dome (Night) If playing well around 30K, if Not around 25K.. Will be a very much Pro- North Crowd.

ROUND 11
Sunday, 5th June
Kangaroos vs. Melbourne at Manuka Oval (Early Start): Hrmmm Not sure why we're playing Melbourne there... Lucky to draw 10K

ROUND 12 (Queens Birthday)
Sunday, 12th June
Kangaroos vs. Richmond at Telstra Dome. Sunday Match, somewhere around 35K

ROUND 15
Friday, 8th July
Kangaroos vs. West Coast at Telstra Dome (Night) Another HUGE chance to stamp our authority. if we can't draw 28K to this match, we don't deserve them. Simple! 30K

ROUND 17
Sunday, 24th July
Kangaroos vs. Adelaide at Telstra Dome... Tough slot... Pushing 30K if playing well.
ROUND 18

Sunday, 31st July
Kangaroos vs. Port Adelaide at Manuka Oval (Early Start) Lucky to pull 10K.

ROUND 20 (Heritage Round)
Saturday, 13th August
Kangaroos vs. St. Kilda at Telstra Dome, Hopefully same turn out as this year, 42K+

All in all if things go our way in terms of on field success, we really should do well in terms of off field financial matters... Attendances etc...

A Profit is certainly not our of the question.

Fair enough..........I guess I assumed the Round 3 StKilda game would be a Friday NIGHT game. Is it really during the day? Seems strange. Thanks for the info too Lidge.

I cant wait for round 2 in canberra north v sydney thats my birthday so it will be a huge weekend spent up in the capital city

GO ROOS :D

Looks ok to me, haven't really looked too hard but as someone pointed out our last 7 games, to me we should win 5 of the 7 which would put us close to the finals.
As for the Friday night whinge, give it a rest can we, I am sick to the back teeth hearing it.

i think going to adelaide 2 weeks in a row is a bit much we might as well stay over there for the fortnight :D

Bit of a horror run in the middle of the year;

rd 6 AAMI
rd 7 AAMI
rd 10 Gabba
rd 11 Manuka
rd 13 Subiaco.

Fremantle once, away. Geelong once, away. We played these two clowns this year once and they were away, what gives?

Brisbane once away also hurts, we never win there.

Overall, the draw is reasonable. Still too many sunday games.
