The best money can buy. :D

But i guess i am just a whinging Sixers fan and we follow the rules.

You do know the sixers breached the cap when they won a couple of their titles in the mid 90's right?

Yeah and we paid the price. Unlike other eastern state sides who are now defunct.

If you do the crime, do the time – i have no problem with that happened and how the NBL enforced the rules but the NBL set a standard with that and now have to enforce every other club follow this same standard.

BTW Why is everyone complaning about the rise of the Dragons ?
Surely it can only be a good thing, Melbourne is the heartland of hoops in this country (Andrew Bogut hails from here :D) and at it's prime, the NBL always had Melbourne derbies in the grand finals IE Magic VS Tigers ..

This year, it's pretty obvious the Dragons will play the Tigers in the Grand Final, everyone else talent wise, is way behind the Melbourne teams, and when they play in the GF, the NBL will get massive coverage here in the media, esp now in Melbourne ..

BTW I'm not surprised at the attitude of the Sixers, those fans find a why to complain/whinge about nearly everything (I think some of them are still better that Phil Smythe was (rightfully) given the arse as Australian head coach :D :D

Also considering the fact Ebi Ere would have stayed in Brisbane had the Bullets survived, he had to go some team on fairly short notice, and clearly the Dragons were the best fit for him and his family ...
I think the SC is out of the window this season anyway due to the deaths of the Kings and Bullets.

Agree and have no problem with that comment as long as both clubs and the NBL can develop some long term stability in that market. However basketball in this country is not in its prime and is in serious danger of going under. Victoria is the heart land of sport in this country but over the last 20 years, how many teams have come and gone – 5 or 6?

Long term satiability, not on that record.

Time will tell but you’re probably right

New Zealand finished 4th in that World Championship so your comment regarding Phil Smyth have no credibility.

Not complaining about Ebi going to the Dragons, the fact they have r*ped the competition of any integrity shits me off.

Yeah but lets face it Crows98, if your team went on a recruiting spree like the Dragons have done, would you be complaining ...

Also I think it's obvious a few years ago the Bullets cheated the Cap bigtime on their way to a championship ...

Maybe I'm biased being a Dragons fan, but I honestly think the bigger problem facing the NBL is the fact that there will not be a team competing in Brisbane next season, and the Kings, one of the NBL's most revered and popular franchises is dead.

Also fancy having a final 8 with only 11 teams in the league (for now) ... Talk about rewarding mediocrity, I'd cull it to an final 6 (or ideally IMHO) a final 4 ...

Your right, I would be pumped so I have no problems with the Dragons Per sa but the NBL is a toothless Tiger with no balls to step in and take control of a sinking ship.

The NBL administration is the major problem, not the clubs. The clubs have to find the best way to win and if they can break the rules and get away with it, I say good on them good on them. But if they get caught, the NBL should have the balls to punish them. And as we all know the NBL has no balls and does sweet **** all about it.

Something I found interesting, Adidas is sponsoring the 36ers next season.

The only team I believe, to have one of the big 3 (nike, adidas, reebok) as an apparel sponsor, great work Adelaide.

who sponsors the other pro teams? i cant remember who used to but wasnt it a local company that also supplied state, local and social teams as well?

The majority of uniforms are done by ISC (also Geelong sponsor) or Kombat, last year Adelaide were done by ISC

Kombat does both the Dragons/Tigers and I think Crocs as well.

They definitely do ours.

I've had mine for 3 years, looks like it'll last forever. Good quality stuff.

I was a fan of Smyth until he took a third rate Australia team. He didnt gave the New Zealanders no respect and got burned badly. As for a NBL coach Smyth was great at letting this team play, which worked well for Veterans who understand the game but his style was too loose for young players.

Some word going around Oz Hoops that the Singapore Slingers are ‘gone’ and are about to fold. Don’t know how much truth there is to it but if it happens the NBL are screwed for this season.

Wrong.

Just a few make the rest look bad.

But that the thing, in comparison to the NBA and AFL we (the NBL) get shit crowds but they are no different to the numbers they genially get in Europe. Overall they are genuinely good.

The Sixers get excellent numbers, the Tigers and Dragons get good healthy crowds, Perth’s numbers are on the way up and sell out there venue quite regularly and all 4 Queensland sides (Brisbane folded because they spent more than they made) have very healthy numbers as well.

The teams in NSW (Hawks, Kings and Razorbacks (or whatever they are called now) could do a bit more but hopefully this year the new Sydney team will get around the 5,500 – 6000 per game.

Not sure if any clubs is playing out of any sub standard venues either – the Dome in Adelaide, Vodaphone Arena in Melbourne, Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney are all world class venues that could host an NBA game and the Gold Coast Convention centre is a beauty. I have only ever seen the Townville and Cairns venues on TV but they look good as well. Not sure what the hell that guy was talking about.

I wish the NBL would just die already. I can't take this shit anymore. The league is embarrassing, the crowds and the venues are depressing, and also most of the players.

The teams and coaching has never been better, the problem is marketing and that their is no rivary between teams as there once was. The players are better players when the game was popular but they lack the personaility.

that could possibly be the worst logo going around

according to my mate in singapore no one really cared about them. tickets given away through radio station promotions
