Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Im the Offensive coach :p

Nah, this one will take me a while for real... i really dont know what to do considering Benedict is caput.

Come on STO, even in the real life draft you only get 5 minutes in the 4th round!:p

Let's get this done!

On a side note, never realised that the Chargers only had one pick in the first 4 rounds until I drew them in thsi mock......can you say closing window of opportunity for an SB?

Obviously we're not going to get this thing finished before the draft starts, so I've had a go at the rest of the picks up until the end of the 4th round. Let me know what you think of your teams pick....

117. Arizona OG/OT Chad Rinehart Northern Iowa (capable of playing both guard and tackle....would initially be a backup)

118. Minnesota DT Jason Shirley Fresno St. (Vikes take a punt on this troubled young DT who is considered a boom or bust....Pat Williams is a monster, but is 35)

119. Houston OT Brandon Keith Northern Iowa (Hard to pick for the Texans as they've only had 2 picks so far and still have numerous holes to fill....As always they have a need at O-line....Could play Guard....Massive upside)

120. Denver S Craig Steltz LSU (Can cover and support the run, and is a great ST'er which is exactly what the Broncos need....replaces old man Lynch - this guy's white too!

121. Tampa Bay WR William Franklin Missouri (a prototypical reciever who underachieved....Underrated and potential sleeper. Remember this name)

122. Seattle TE Brad Cottam Tennessee (huge target - 6'8" 270 - with good speed and decent blocker....will improve the Hawks awful TE position)

123. Cleveland RB Kevin Smith Central Florida (Backup for Jamaal Lewis....Good all round back)

124. Pittsburgh DE Kendall Langford (strong, tough nasty DE who compares well to current Dallas player Jason Hatcher....can't go wrong on this one!)

125. Tennessee LB Jonathon Goff Vanderbilt (good all-round linebacker who will initially be a backup at the least)

126. Jacksonville CB Zack Bowman Nebraska (Jags take a flyer on this oft injured first round talent....boom or bust)

127. San Diego FORFEITED

128. Dallas OLB Tommy Blake TCU (Demon-like pass rusher who has serious off-field issues, but Dallas takes the risk....Can't have enough pass rushers....Very intruiging player, one to keep an eye on)

129. Indianapolis OG Donald Thomas Connecticut (Would fit in nicely at the Colts with the departure of Jake Scott....has been slowly rising up the boards of late)

130. Green Bay TE Jermichael Finley Texas (Could be one of the best tight ends in this draft....Chosen based more on potential than production)

131. New England OT Breno Giacomini Louisville (Pats are picking for depth here and they like their white O-liners....although with a name like that I bet Parcells and the Phins take him)

132. New York Giants WR Dexter Jackson Appalachian St. (pure speedster who will likely be a special teams star)

133. Philadelphia CB Antwaun Molden Eastern Kentucky (Great size and speed but was an underachiever....Sleeper....sounds like Anquan Boldin)

134. Buffalo OG Robert Felton Arkansas (paved the way for D-Mac in college....Bills like their O-line big and nasty)

135. Baltimore OT Barry Richardson Clemson (Ravens like their huge O-line too....This guy is a potential shut-down tackle, only problem is demeanor and lack of nastiness....Get him to Ravens camp against the Ravens D, that'll fire him up)

136. Tennessee DE Darrell Robertson Georgia Tech (Titans really need a DE with the departure of Odom and LaBoy....Had a huge senior year....great pass rusher)

137. Green Bay SS Nehemiah Warrick Michigan St. (Not much experience, but could be anything....Will at the least be a good backup and great ST'er, while having the talent to be much more)

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Nice work CONS, same positions that I would have drafted for Tennessee.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Well revisiting Chiefs' selections >

DT Sedrick Ellis USC
OT Sam Baker USC
C Mike Pollack Arz St
CB Terrell Thomas USC

Massive need on the OL, with only the 2 left spots filled.

Latest mocks seem to have OG Branden Albert stocks going up, SI had him as Chiefs' first pick. They still need a run stuffer on the DL, so Ellis wouldn't be a bad pick if still there. He has slipped down in a few mocks. Clady may even be there first choice now.

OL and DT way greater needs than getting Ryan as some mocks have. Doubts on Ryan mean they should be happier taking a QB in 2nd or 3rd if needed.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

And for the Vikings

DE Derrick Harvey, Florida
OT Carl Nicks, Nebraska
QB Andre Woodson, Kentucky
TE Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M
DT Jason Shirley

Harvey's stock has risen since the draft was started and Phillip Merling is now the likely prospect at 17. Mind you, with the attention Chiefs Jared Allen has been getting at Winter Park over the last few days, I'd say there's a strong chance that the Chiefs will be picking at 17 anyway.

Safety, although not an immediate need, is probably the only unfilled need. The Vikings are also in the market for a Centre now that it looks like Matt birk may be in his last year.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

There are two players that are quality Sleepers overlooked on CONS guessing
sheet. Nice try CONS_SS. :thumbsu:

I'm referring to the next Hines Ward ;) >> WR from Michigan State DEVIN THOMAS and a guy the Steelers waved in for a meeting last week... DE from Liberty VINCENT REED.

Anyway, here's the countdown...

I'm not sure if Devin Thomas is considered a sleeper, alot of draft sites regard him as the number one receiver in the draft. I'd say Early Doucet from LSU compares well to Hines Ward (potentially speaking of course). As for the DE you mentioned, well at least I got the position right!

my bad...oversight. But Big Ben WILL get his wish I reckon. If the Rooney's are putting $$$ into Big Ben, I'd expect a OG & WR to be picked up in the first 3 rounds. May it not be Malcolm Kelly... got a bad vibe about him.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

As we know, Trades always stuff these sort of things up... ALAS... Southern you gotta be happy... Got Jackson a round later, and get another first rounder next year... Always looking forward them Iggles ;)

What's the bet Carolina goes 2-14 next season?

I was convinced that the Eagles themselves would've taken Otah though.
