Haaaaaa, Essendon are certaintys for the wooden spoon.keep dreamin
( Warning , this paragraph , contains true, yet contriversial infomation
, If you can not handle facts look away now!

No, Carlton are! I can see us finishing higher than 16.
One player doesn't make a team and with your recent retirements, I can only see 1, maybe 2 good players in your team! You list is hyped up as **** , just because you have Chris Judd. Keep Dreaming!

- The best core of talls in the league. If Gumbleton steps up, they have 2 genuine forwards (Lloyd, Gumbleton), 2 genuine defenders (Fletcher, Ryder), 2 genuine ruckmen (Laycock, Hille) and a floater who can win games at either end (Lucas). That's 3 potential 50 goal forwards. No other team has that. ..

Gumbleton doesn't have the ability to kick 50 goals.
He is a spud.

Laycock & Hille are borderline/fringe players, hardly classify them as genuine..

hawthorn has that and more. Franklin, Roughhead, boyle, williams and a young fella calledmitch thorp. Throw in dew and rioli and u have the best forward line in the league :D

2008 Predictions

Ladder

1 – Hawthorn – Getting about ripe, KPP need to stand up
2 – Geelong – Could win the flag again, don’t think they will be as dominant
3 – Port Adelaide – I expect more improvement from the young well coached team
4 – Essendon – We will surprise a few, Knights is the greatest thing that could have happened to us
5 – West Coast – Still a good side
6 – St Kilda – Hopefully they have a good run with injury
7 – Carlton – They will be exciting
8 – Collingwood - Losing Bucks and Clement will hurt but the nucleus is still there
9 – Brisbane – Might even finish higher, they will challenge soon
10 – Fremantle - Query over their midfield. Harvey will be good for them.
12 – Melbourne – Will improve but not solid enough across the ground
13 – Sydney – Don’t think they have the stock to compete with other teams now
14 – Adelaide – Well disciplined so they could finish anywhere, but I think their window has closed
15 – Kangaroos – Will probably surprise everyone again, just don’t see them backing up last years effort
16 – Richmond – A lot of good players, but a few years away

Brownlow Top 10

Winner: Luke Hodge

2 – Daniel Kerr
3 – Brent Stanton
4 – Shaun Burgoyne
5 – Chris Judd
6 – Simon Black
7 – Matthew Pavlich
8 – Gary Ablett JR
9 – Scott Pendlebury
10 – Brett Deledio

That is the most biased predictions i have ever seen. Not having the bulldogs in the top 16 itself is very amusing and Stanton will not finish 3rd in the brownlow playing for a team that will finish bottom 4.

1. WESTERN BULLDOGS - Will emulate Geelong and rebound from a disapointing season to break a long drought.
2. GEELONG - May find like Collingwood that one premiership does not break a grand final hoodoo.
3. HAWTHORN - A good, well coached side with much to look forward to.
4. BRISBANE - Good signs last year, and can return to prominence.
5. COLLINGWOOD - Despite some retirements, can give the finals a shake this year.
6. SYDNEY - Best is probably behind it, but still a formidable opponent.
7. ADELAIDE - A solid team, which will win plenty of games.
8. PORT ADELAIDE - A competetive loss in last year's grand final might have inspired them this year, but losing by 20 goals will haunt them for a long time.
9. FREMANTLE - This group of players have been together for some time; new coach or not, you have to wonder if they blend well together as a team.
10. MELBOURNE - This side is enigmatic, and it could realistically finish anywhere from 3rd to 15th.
11. ST KILDA - Time has run out for the Saints, and it is time to rebuild.
12. CARLTON - Should begin the first steps back to the finals.
13. WEST COAST - Lost some of its best players; the off field dramas do not help matters.
14. ESSENDON - Something of an unknown quantity, but no-one seems to be predicting great things for the Bombers.
15. NORTH MELBOURNE - Over achieved in 2007, and will find it hard to be competetive this year given the club's financial problems.
16. RICHMOND - Going absolutely nowhere.

That i would love to see happen and would do anything to get us over the line. :p

I was focusing on that list much further into sept than you were allowed to by your champion team.

Why is that?
As the Pies managed to get lucky by facing a West Coast team without 3 superstars of the competition in Judd, Kerr and Cousins. Sure you beat Sydney, but their rapidly ageing side isnt much of a challenge for many clubs, especially with injuries as they had last season. Admirable against the Cats, but thats where the luck ended.

Well as he predicted us to come 4th, it isnt impossible for Stanton to come 3rd in the Brownlow especially as he is widely considered our best midfielder. It is amusing to see that the Bulldogs were forgotten. Forgot them no doubt.

1. Geelong- Awesome
2. Hawthorn- great team. ?s on defence (and how they'll bounce back from Finals loss to the Roos:p)
3. Brisbane (especially if their backline holds)
4. Port- ? marks on how they'll bounce back.
5. WEst Coast (too much talent to not be thereabouts)
6. Roos- Will still play the quality of football. THis is IMO very unbiased, as I can see us finishing in the TOp 4 again.
7. Collingwood- wondering how the loss of Clement might impact the side. Rocca is getting older as well, and Fraser under injury clouds. With teams like the Pies and Roos without too many increadible match winners, it relies on consistant solid performers from the whole list. If the list plays well, they'll finish higher than 7th, if they play to their usual capacity, they'll finish around here, and if they don't play to their capacity, they'll drop.
8. St kilda (if injury free)
9.Fremantle- will bounce back, but it's all a question of consistancy.
10. Sydney- Quality side, but their depth in my eyes is a bit shaky.
11. Dogs- Good side. If Williams and co take a step up they'll be in the hunt, but I still have ? marks over their forward line. Wouldn't be at all suprised to see them do a Geelong. It's hard to judge how some of their younger tall forwards are going from an outsiders perspective.
12. Adelaide- Will struggle IMO without gun forwards. Will be thereabouts however, but the retirement of Roo will play a part.
13. Carlton Shaky defence IMO.
14. Bombers- (Good young players, but they're young)
15. Melbourne (could easily finish higher, and they were ravaged by injuries. It's difficult to make a fair assessment.)
16. Richmond (not all bad, but just the worst of a good lot)

essendon finishing 4th ? not a chance at all, essendon want be playing finals for at least 3 years

geelong should win the flag as long as they dont have alot of injuries

Every year a team jumps up out of no-where. You can make a real case for Essendon:

- The best core of talls in the league. If Gumbleton steps up, they have 2 genuine forwards (Lloyd, Gumbleton), 2 genuine defenders (Fletcher, Ryder), 2 genuine ruckmen (Laycock, Hille) and a floater who can win games at either end (Lucas). That's 3 potential 50 goal forwards. No other team has that.

If you are counting Gumbleton as a potential 50 goal forward, I think a few teams coul put their hands up.

You're slipping. I mean, the old GC_26 would say "injuries be damned! we'll still win! and jessica alba wants me!".

I'm deeply disappointed in you...

1 - Geelong - Great team will do the job week in week out but will struggle if theres a pressure game. e.g finals time.
2 - Hawthorn - Awesome list. Still very young but full of class. Look for Buddy to chop up. However i think they could drop out in straight sets in the finals.
3 - West Coast - With Judd and Cousins gone they are the most balanced side in the competition. Plenty of players that can step up at any time and i think for the games they lose this season will almost all come in the first half of the year.
4 - Fremantle - New SIMPLER coach. Too much strategy cost them last year. Harvey will be a blessing as he will bring things back to basics. If Brett Peake plays a whole year they will be a force. He is their most IMPORTANT player by far as he adds speed to the midfield.
5 - Port Adelaide - Just about the best midfield in the comp but teams will learn from this year and the quality teams will be able to cope with their forward line.
6 - Collingwood - Very young but very good however the pressure will get to a few players (e.g Judds second year). Also may take a while for a clear leader to establish themselves and like west coast will lose more in the first half of the year than the second. Watch out in 2009.
7 - St Kilda - Great list but no luck. Should be a solid top 8 contender but theres just something missing at the moment. Leadership? A focul point? Someone to step up?
8 - Brisbane - Would love to see them make the 8 this year. They have a great leader in Brown and a great coach in Leigh Matthews. I think they are dynamic enough now and have finally cracked the mindset that playing hard and down the corridor will win it for them every time when they don't really have the team to do this anymore.
9 - Kangaroos - Look they just really aren't that great. They set the tone last year for pressure and always chasing so when teams play them this year instead of looking at the list they will know to go hard from the first bounce. Unfortunetly they don't have the team. skills and quality to counter this.
10 - Adelaide - Great coach but are getting old. No focal point up forward but their defense is awesome. Not enough however to win more than they lose
11 - Western Bulldogs - Could easily see them doing better than this but it would take a player to step up and a tall one at that. Not sure who and if one does it won't be in the first half of the season and by then its too late.
12 - Carlton - Judd, Judd, Judd. If nothing else at all he will take the pressure of young players such as Murphy and Gibbs freeing them up and allowing them to live up to their potential. However their defence lacks and this will cost them.
13 - Sydney - This last draft was the first time Sydney have used and not traded their first draft pick in 5 years! Thats rediculous. You guys won't just suffer this season but for years to come. No one can sustain that.
14 - Essendon - New coach will take time to adjust to. The best out of the bottom three. Young and no doubt will improve.
15 - Melbourne - Just not that great of a side. I can't see them improving for a while yet.
16 - Richmond - Terry's last year as Tigers coach if this happens. Just not a very good side all over the park. Still its not all bad. Theres a guy waiting at the end of this years draft who probably would have challenged Kruezer for last years number 1 draft pick. Another ruckman (forgotten his name. That fijian west aussie kid)

Premiership = No idea. Any of my top 4
Brownlow = Daniel Kerr
Coleman = Fevola

didn't look to me like geelong struggled with pressure last year. had two massive wins and 1 close win, in fact wasn't it west coast who went out in straight sets ? only two sides have ever done that under this finals system

also geelong are much more balanced than WC, WC have a weak forward line
