Ovechkin might score 10 goals against dallas on Tuesday...

Dallas since the olympic break. goals for 4, goals against 17.

One less team to contend with for that last playoff spot.:p

Mueller continues to look ok. Showing good chemistry with Duchene, that duo could last us years, and has 4 pts in 3 games. Not setting the world on fire, but still looking good.

Stewart is now officially a beast, and Anderson, if he has a good stretch run, will make you think about giving him a Vezina nomination, but he just won't (there's about three four guys ahead of him probably).

Massive win over the blackhawks by the wings just now. Looked as though Chicago were going to run all over us in the first period but after a dodgy goaltender interference call on dustin bufflin (sic) on a patrick kane PPG (which would have made it 3-0 hawks), wings hit 5 in a row - huet doing his best to make chicago lose AGAIN lol. Nervy finish but a MASSIVE 2 points going into the big 4 point game against Calgary.

Now time for sleep.

Have a lengthy spell Matt Cooke, he's been a piece of shit for years and has plenty of priors.
Boo-ins in big trouble with Marc Savard out. Very little goal production to begin with, even less now.

Turco is getting hit with more rubber than the runway at Heathrow. 42 shots after two periods.

Stat of the day:

MTL without Markov: 14-20-3 (over an 82 game season = 69 pts)
MTL with Markov: 18-9-3 (over an 82 game season = 107 pts)

By the true defintion there is your Hart Memorial Trophy winner. :thumbsu:

the Hart Trophy, the "oldest and most prestigious individual award in hockey", is awarded annually to the "player adjudged most valuable to his team" in the National Hockey League.http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/#cite_note-Hart_history2-0

Disagree, while you may have been losing that was due to poor Goaltending at the time. You were still scoring the same amount of goals as if Markov wasn't there and Markov's biggest asset to the team is his Powerplay and scoring abilities.

Phil Kessel should be MVP, since he left Boston they've gone deep south.

I stopped reading after that ridiculous statement.

The reason Montreal wasn't lower in the standings was because of great goaltending. They are a completely different team with Markov in the line up and all stats back it up.

Montreal Molson Cup Winners

October 09 - Carey Price
November 09 - Carey Price
December 09 - Jaroslav Halak
Jan/Feb 10 - Jarosloav Halak

The goaltenders this season (whoever it is) are consistently (almost every night) one of the top three stars, where is the bad goaltending there?

I assume you've acquired your "information" off keyboard warriors on the HF website who have nothing better to do than moan about things they know nothing about.

fantastic goal by ovie to tie it up

regardless of the result washington's 3rd period was an embaressment. Varlamov will be rightfully punted to the ahl when the game finishes.

happy the stars got a win..were very ordinary for 2 periods, then showed a bit..Turco showed why the flyers or caps should have traded for him..( i know he was oridnary the first two games after the break) but on a good team, he could have got them past pittsburgh

That stat means extremely little and can be easily accounted for, it would be due to teams get better scoring opportunities against a weaker defence unit (stupid giveaways, pylon-man Hall Gill getting too many minutes, power play specialist even strength liability Bergeron playing too much 5-on-5 hockey etc).

How about you provide some actual evidence of games lost due to bad goaltending? See if you can even find two games. You won't find many if any.

Then match that against games where the goaltenders kept them in it (much like the recent Ducks game where it should have been 6-0 after the first). It has been almost every game this season.

Blaming the goaltending in Montreal for early season losses is laughable.

I did give you evidence, you just refuse to accept it. You provide evidence such as the Molson cup, which is as good as BigFooty awarding someone an award in Ice Hockey. Carey Price got it for his 3.44, .87% October. Need I say more? You had bad goaltending at the start of the year, its obvious in the stats. Since then it has picked up. Markov is also like Dan Boyle, great PP QB, but he's not a defensive defenceman, so accounting all of that Sv% on him is an out and out joke.

Stop being so bias.

Ryan Miller, MVP.

You're a fool. That's not evidence. My evidence is Montreal's goaltenders playing in front of a poor defensive unit, this acquired from witnessing the fact. Your evidence is from google.

Your "stats" dont mean anything. If you have a solid defensive unit or if you play the Leafs every night, a team that shoots from anywhere, any goaltender's stats are going to be excellent. If you play in front of a poor defensive unit or play Washington every night, a team that creates excellent scoring opportunities, a goaltenders stats are going to be poor. That's even obvious enough for you, I fail to see how you can't grasp this...

Once again show me a game where goaltending has been the reason for a Montreal loss.

and don't bother with the bias talk, Nabakov could film himself farting in an elevator and you would demand he gets an Oscar for best actor in a leading role.

Far less excellent opposition chances are created when Markov is on the ice compared to Bergeron, O'Byrne, Gill etc. This is due to less giveaways (Gill, O'Byrne) and better positional awareness (Bergeron). He's a calming influence to the unit.

How is that an "out and out" joke?

I hate having to wait 5 days for a Sharks game, what kind of a schedule is that! Last game was Sunday our time, next one is Friday!

Oh and Catters, nice call on Ovie scoring a heap of goals against you ;) Although he did score 2, its not the 10 you predicted ;)

Oh, and so glad I found that ignore function, had been looking for it for a while. Forum looks less cluttered and filled with one less moron.

Didn't know it was possible to ignore one's self. :D

Evidence of Montreal being on par with the opposition and losing because of poor goaltending? Next to none.

Bring better reasons than meaningless stats if you're going to make ridiculous statements. Yet another lost debate by your good self, well played.
