I didn't wanna bring up the personnel excuse but it's true. For some reason it was reported that both teams were close to full strength which is way off lol.

FWIW...

Franzen-V.Filppula-Bertuzzi
Hudler*-Modano-Cleary
Ritola-Helm-Eaves
Miller-Abdelkader-Downey

Stuart-Kindl
Ericsson-Salei
Meech-Lashoff

Osgood

*Hudler replaced by I.Filppula

Sterling-Crosby-Dupuis
Tangradi-Comrie-Malkin
Wallace-Letestu-Kennedy
Craig-Vitale-Boulerice

Orpik-Michalek
Letang-Strait
Potter-Hutchinson

Fluery
No Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Howard, Kronwall, Rafalski, Hudler (out with bruised foot - replaced by Ilari Filppula, Val's big bro), Holmstrom. ;)

Franzen cleared of serious injury, only corkie it seems. Big Bad Bert stepped in and "pounded" Orprick though... hopefully from the front this time.

Niemi, 2 goals on 4 shots in his first preseason game... yay.

You almost sound happy about it. BF KHL > Sharks? ;)

You are pretty tough on him given he faces a 5 on 3 less than 4 minutes into his first pre-season game ...... Niemi will be given plenty of rope. You won't see Stalock without injuries

My Canucks have a lot to look forward to this year with no real subtractions from the 2nd highest scoring forward unit in the league, and Hamhuis and Ballard significantly adding to our depth on D.
I hope you're right. :)

Apparently the first one was an easy save that he just didn't make.

As for Stalock.. I know we won't see him, but he's better than Griess and Niitty.

I must say the Oil look interesting this preseason. Could the youngsters surprise and come on earlier than expected? Maybe Khabi does not end up in jail and has a solid season in front of another young group like 07-08 Blackhawks

Wade Redden is off to Hartford to play out the season.

Average AHL salary is about $65K. So Redden's $6.5 million salary means he would make 100 times more than his teammates.

Glen Sather must have been drunk when he offered out that contract.

Disagree. Leafs won't be able to hold most teams to less than three goals a game. They will however score a few with offensive talent they have.

Not sure about that. 26th in scoring last season and last on the power play.

No one on the squad with over 100 career goals and only 2 players who average more than 20 goals a season.

Here's their probable opening day line-up.

R PHIL KESSEL – 96 career goals at 24 per season
C TYLER BOZAK – 8 career goals
L NIKOLAI KULEMIN – 31 career goals at 15.5 per season

R KRIS VERSTEEG - 44 goals at 21 per season
C MIKHAIL GRABOVSKI – 33 career goals at 16.5 per season
L CLARKE MACARTHUR - 44 Goals at 11 per season

R COLBY ARMSTRONG (A) - 78 Goals at 14.2 per season
C CHRISTIAN HANSON - 3 career goals
L FREDRIK SJOSTROM – 44 goals at 7.3 per season

R COLTON ORR - 8 goals at 2.0 per season
C TIM BRENT – 1 career goal
L LUCA CAPUTI - 3 career goals

D LUKE SCHENN - 7 goals at 3.5 per season
D DION PHANEUF (C) - 77 goals at 12.8 per season
D MIKE KOMISAREK - 12 goals at 2.0 per season
D TOMAS KABERLE - 80 goals at 7.3 per season
D FRANCOIS BEAUCHEMIN (A) - 26 goals at 5.8 per season
D CARL GUNNARSSON – 3 career goals

They needed to get something for Kaberle, will be funny if he goes for nothing.

Must be something in the water on the Island, another lengthy shoulder injury.

The New York Islanders suffered their second devastating blow this week and it's still early.

The team announced Tuesday that forward Kyle Okposo's ailing right shoulder will require surgery that will keep him out indefinitely. Okposo suffered a torn labrum and will likely miss 2-3 months.
