Re: Colin Silvia

Read on FF and TS that Tippett has knee tendonitis and has had it since the start of the year. Anyone hear anything on this?
Nope? What does this mean for us SC'ers?

Re: Colin Silvia

I randomly read it on fanfooty, on the Tippett page and on tooserious as well...on the replies section of the last blog post. I can't seem to find any other info on it but that is not great news for a ruckman.

Re: Colin Silvia

From fanfooty -
I heard on Triple M during the game that he has been carrying knee tendonitis for the past 4 weeks. Does anyone know anymore about this? - migman19 - yesterday

Tooserious -
just heard a news report on Tippet; he has knee tendonitis and the club is managing it carefully but he is thought to playing in a bit of pain - wiggles

Interesting with Tippett that the Crows say they have known about the tendonitis and have been managing it with regards to his workload. Don’t think if it was that bad that Tippett would have rucked as much as he has in the last 2 games. He is too valuable to Adelaide. Still think I will keep him - brett

And
Brett surgery is a last case scenario with knee tendonitis, you can manage it, but, the best way to recover is to stop doing anything that causes inflammation to the tendons. Pain is the obvious symptom, that would be caused by running, jumping etc. Best treatment is rest and stretching, recovery time 2 – 6 weeks each case is different.

There is no problem with Tippet continuing to play at all, if carefully managed, but he will continue to play in pain, his goal kicking is probably indicative of his knee issues. Eventually the most likely outcome, is 2 – 3 weeks out - mark1

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

These rumours are really making me want to trade him.. Probably Dangerfield will come in.

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

I've added a couple of other replies from that thread. I feel the same about him, it's almost if you want to move on him, you have to do it this week cos he'll lose so much value. But if you picked him at a keeper and at that price you probably should have, you gotta stick by him. I knew he would be a rollercoaster ride and would post some huge scores as well as some bad ones but it's just hard not to be reactive knowing that he;s gonna lose so much value...and possibly have problematic knees.

For me, it's mainly the fact he's had 2 very ordinary scores in a row and yes, he needs 170 to go up .Let's face it, Adelaide were playing Dangerfield as the main fwd and Walker as the lead up against Sydney.. Something ain't right. Knee replacements, Not sure he is coping with GC17 and 'the next big thing' talk either.

**** **** ****:mad::mad::mad:

truth hurts..

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

Well that about makes my mind up...About to lose a lot of money, inconsistent scoring, potentially injured.

Tippett - Kreuze, Kreuze - Cox when the big guys is fit and firing again. Hate to waste a trade but there is no point hanging on to them for the sake of it.

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

So glad I traded him out for Murphy about now. Was really the 3rd player I picked and was only dumped in the last week.
:p
Mind you, Not so happy about the swap of Sandi for Clark, But you get that.
;)

They have until Sunday, so he probably won't have a fitness test until Fri/Sat you would think.

If I was a betting man, I would put money on Goody to front up. Big game for the Crows after a less than desirable start to the season and the captain will not want to miss.

Also has a good history of bouncing back from knocks such as these, and I would say he is an 80% chance of playing.

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

Tippett - With these rumours it sounds like everyone is hearing what they want to hear to justify a sideways, or even downgrade trade.

Now having said that - Im going Tippett to Brown this week - 1 trade.

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

I hope everybody trades out Tippett, when he fires i'll benefit :D.

That would be when he is not playing 50% of his game time in the ruck. Have you looked at the Crows ruck stocks, Sellar joined the injury list last week, Moran is listed as indefinite, which leaves an under done Maric, a frail McKernan and an inexperienced Trengrove(not this year!) and KT.

That would be when the Crows start to get the best 22 on the park who also happen to be match fit.

If he continues playing the knee issue is not going to go away, its one that will linger all year.

Having said that, with management he can continue to play, and as the crows improve so should his scoring.

But consider this, what if Maric goes down with injury? Who the hell is left to ruck? KT?

I think a lot of people will be happy to have a reason to move KT on, and the reasons are there, role change and injury. Definite short term pain score wise and price wise.

For those that keep him, then you choose to ignore the obvious, and take this short term pain to save trades, I dont think there is a right or wrong decision, guess we will know in 4 weeks or so.

I'm holding as I would have to use 2 trades to go up, not interested in going down that much.

Oh dear.....

Think you're thinking about the OTHER Adelaide....

Having said that, him not being there doesn't help much does it?? ;)

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

Blowing a few early trades to get spuds like Tippet out of your team is fine IMO.

I am an aggressive trader by nature and don't stuff around when it comes to getting rid of under performing spuds.

If I have an injury to a star thats doing well and its no more than 4-5 weeks then I will hold onto him providing I have great bench cover otherwise he is gone.

I like to upgrade my team as quickly as possible but thats just me.

Last year I got smashed by injuries, this year I don't think can be as bad.

I try to hang onto at least one trade by finals with a near to fully completed team. :thumbsu:

Re: Injuries & Suspensions Thread - 2010

Tendonitis in the knee is a strange one. I've had it since I was 17 from playing basketball and it has gradually got worse over the years. It was the sort of thing that you can play through once you warm up, the pain goes away and the next day you really feel it. So his recovery would be affected, but at his age his performance on field would probably not be. It didn't stop me playing basketball at the highest level I could until I was about 25, and I didn't have the same support staff he will have.

I thought this was interesting. It doesn't sound like such a bad injury. If it was extremely bad, I doubt they would be risking him (he is gold to the Crows, isn't he?).

Its not like a hammy thomas, its essentially inflammation of the knee tendons which causes discomfort and pain. They could manage him all year, but the reality is, it will also linger all year

Not the first player to continue playing with this, wont be the last.

Hmmm

I might still keep him, I don't want to use this as an excuse to off him when I don't even know what's going on. If I was to trade out every guy like this, I'd be out on trades by round 13 or so.

I'm more concerned with his increased ruck role than his knee. I picked him as a forward and to taking contested marks and kicking goals, not winning taps for half the game.

If the inflammation gets worse it will cost him weeks for rest, tough call.
