2010 Season Begins

Saturday was the first time Rutherglen has beaten Mitta ever (we joined the TDFL from O & K back in 2004), im very glad it didnt take 22 years. As for Chiltern, we saw them in Round 2 and they looked ok. Their win over Yack does suggest the comp is very even. 10 teams could quite justifiably consider themselves a realistic chance to play finals but with only 5 spots available alot will hinge on the many 50/50 contests that will take place in the early to middle part of the season

So which two teams can't consider themselves a realistic chance to play finals GB?

Heard a whisper today that Thurgoona's win over Kiewa was the first against them in 22 years. Can anyone confirm this?

I am not sure about the 22 years but one thing that does interset me is Almost done definatly Done or Almost, i am hearing whispers about the great man and the rumour is he was caught browsing through NB for some new boots.....;) could there be a temptation.:D

10 was a neat rounded number I chose to use to imply that it would be an even season. But I think its fair to say finals would be a very optimistic (and perhaps unrealistic) aim for Wodonga Saints (my apologies to any saints people out there, just my opinion). As for the other team, I thought DMB might struggle to keep in touch with the top 5 but 2 wins in a row (including 1 over my club) certainly gives them hope.

Perhaps I should have said 11 teams can consider themselves a chance. The 12 team comp suggests that a couple of clubs may drop off the pace in the coming weeks (no idea who they will be, thats the great thing about the TDFL this season), but until then it will be on for young and old (sorry to dust off an old cliche).

Definately done my friend, zero temptation. Still hurting from the reserves game against Yack.

It's an even comp this year.

What happened to Yack down at Chiltern? Are they overated?

Tallangatta look to be really struggling.

Saints are getting what they deserve with a coach like that.

Travelled down the highway to watch the yak chiltern game and yes i agree yak are overrated. They have no forward set up or structure at all, evident by key forwards harris and carrolls pathetic contributions. Way with 14 possessions on Harris in the last quarter was the difference. Yak do have a strong midfield and the ball was repeatedly in their forward line, but with no speed or defensive pressure, their inability to have any forward line pressure was the difference. If not for Fraser, who was moved from back to forward they would have lost by ten goals. A good win to Chiltern but i do not believe Chiltern will play files or do i believe Yak will play in a grand final!

Sorry Almost, my spy must have got mixed up, he did say that the golf clubs in particular putters are next to the footy boots.

Also i hear the great simon mayhew made a good return on sat, can anyone from chiltern fill me in on how he went, has the 2 years of party life slowed him down.

Just heard today that Caine Wilhelm from Wod Saints is having trouble getting cleared to play 3rds at Raiders, as he wants to play footy with his mates and develop his skills which he clearly will not under Manny at the Saints. Manny & Humpa wont clear the 17 year old giant, and they apparently told his old man in a meeting that the boy signed a contract??
Because of this 2 week drawn out saga, Caine did not play football at all on the weekend.

Im not clear on this but, are kids that young alowed to sign a contract..

No you cannot enter into a legal contract if you are under 18.

A great bloke and could be an awesome player, but you can't teach someone who doesn't train  I believe he plays & trains A grade soccer, football and in year 12. Trained 3 or 4 times in 3 months since start of pre-season. Hopefully he goes well at raiders and pushes his way up into seniors over the next few years, but no doubt he will have to train...

My Tips for Round 5

Beechworth
Mitta United by 36 points over Wodonga (might be a bit closer than people think).
Rutherglen vs. Barnawartha should be a cracking game. The Tigers to bounce back by 15 points.
Tallangatta vs. Chiltern, again another cracking game. The Swans by 4points.
Thurgoona by 22 points over Wahgunyah.
Yackandandah over DMB by 37 points.

SugarRay Id like to see it be closer but im not sure if this could be possible, Mitta will win by 15 goals +.
R'glen to beat Barny by 19pts
Chiltern by 29pts over Tgatta
Thurgoona by 1pt over wahgunya
Yack to bounce back with a 10 goal win over DMB
KSC at home to beat B'worth by 4 goals

Pity those dills at TDFL HQ cannot get their act together and get the ladders updated on the VCFL website. It's hard enough up here in Brisbane without that lot adding to our woes. Is it that they are too old... too tired... or just don't really care? Time for a change perhaps..?!

Quit pushing your crap on everybody knob. If you were even up in Brisbane, which according to your IP address you aren't, you should keep your ideas up there.

Also the League cannot update the ladders if the game scores are not entered in. This responsibility lies with the home clubs each week, not the League. League don't get the paperwork until Tuesday each week.

Onya Dirk... you make a compelling and intelligent argument. I was merely making an observation that compared to larger leagues like the Hume, the O&KFL and major leagues like O&MFL, the TDFL does not get its information updated as efficiently...
